In Vitro Examination of the VentriFlo True Pulse Pump for Failing Fontan Support
Phillip M. Trusty,Michael Tree,Doug Vincent,Jeffrey P. Naber,Kevin O. Maher,Ajit P. Yoganathan,Shriprasad R. Deshpande +6 more
TL;DR: Both future pump design and off-label VADs for Fontan use should consider the pump configuration and parameter combinations presented here, which offered successful support.
Journal ArticleDOI
New Technology Mimics Physiologic Pulsatile Flow During Cardiopulmonary Bypass
Gengo Sunagawa,Jamshid H. Karimov,Raymond Dessoffy,Nicole Byram,Patrick Grady,Martin Sinkewich,Jeffrey P. Naber,Douglas Vincent,Shinji Okano,Robert D. Stewart,Shiva Sale,Nader Moazami,Nader Moazami,Kiyotaka Fukamachi +13 more
TL;DR: This pilot study demonstrated that the VentriFlo system generated pulsatile flow and maintained adequate perfusion of all organs during prolonged CPB and showed no evidence of ischemic changes or thromboembolism.
Journal ArticleDOI
Acute Response of Human Aortic Endothelial Cells to Loss of Pulsatility as Seen during Cardiopulmonary Bypass.
Khanh T. Nguyen,Leslie Donoghue,Guruprasad A. Giridharan,Jeffrey P. Naber,Doug Vincent,Kiyotaka Fukamachi,Arushi Kotru,Palaniappan Sethu +7 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors used the ECCM to evaluate if short-term exposure to continuous flow influences endothelial function, particularly, changes in levels of pro-inflammatory and pro-angiogenic cytokines.
Journal ArticleDOI
Hemodynamic evaluation of a new pulsatile blood pump during low flow cardiopulmonary bypass support.
Takuma Miyamoto,Gengo Sunagawa,Raymond Dessoffy,Jamshid H. Karimov,Patrick Grady,Jeffrey P. Naber,Douglas Vincent,Shiva Sale,Knut Kvernebo,Van N. P. Tran,Nader Moazami,Kiyotaka Fukamachi +11 more
TL;DR: VentriFlo as discussed by the authors is a new pulsatile blood pump intended for use during short-term circulatory support in acute pigs for 6 hours of CPB for stroke recovery.
