Journal ArticleDOI

Arsenic trioxide-induced neuroblastoma cell death is accompanied by proteolytic activation of nuclear Bax

TL;DR: An As2O3-induced mechanism where p18 Bax gets cleaved and ‘trapped’ in the nucleus is suggested, strengthened by the observation that calpain, the protease responsible for p 18 Bax generation, is present in the nuclei, and that nuclear calpain is induced by increasing As2 O3 and Ca2+ levels.
Journal ArticleDOI

The immune modulator Linomide prevents neuronal death in injured peripheral nerves of the mouse

TL;DR: Linomide pre-treatment profoundly reduced the injury-induced apoptotic death of neurons and satellite cells in both systems, suggesting that modulation of the inflammatory cytokine cascade is a promising road to nerve cell rescue.
Journal ArticleDOI

High-resolution genomic profiling of an adult Wilms' tumor: evidence for a pathogenesis distinct from corresponding pediatric tumors.

TL;DR: The first published high-resolution genomic analysis of a mixed-type adult WT revealed a more pronounced genetic complexity than usually observed in children with mixed- type WT.
Journal ArticleDOI

Aberrant epigenetic regulation in clear cell sarcoma of the kidney featuring distinct DNA hypermethylation and EZH2 overexpression

TL;DR: The global methylation profile and the mutational status of 633 specific epigenetic regulators were analyzed in the pediatric tumor clear cell sarcoma of the kidney (CCSK) and a mutation in the key epigenetic regulator EZH2 was discovered in one case.
Journal ArticleDOI

A Frequency-Multiplexed Coherent Electro-optic Memory in Rare Earth Doped Nanoparticles

TL;DR: In this paper, the Stark echo modulation memory (SEMM) quantum protocol was used for coherent light storage in Eu3+:Y2O3 nanoparticles using the Stark coefficient of 50 kHz/(V/cm) across a bandwidth of 15 GHz, which is promising for broadband operation.
