The Triterpenoid Betulin Protects against the Neuromuscular Effects of Bothrops jararacussu Snake Venom In Vivo.
Miriéle Cristina Ferraz,Jhones Luiz de Oliveira,Joel Reis de Oliveira Junior,José Carlos Cogo,Márcio Galdino dos Santos,Luiz Madaleno Franco,Pilar Puebla,Helena Onishi Ferraz,Humberto Gomes Ferraz,Marisa Maria Teixeira da Rocha,Stephen Hyslop,Arturo San Feliciano,Yoko Oshima-Franco +12 more
TL;DR: Results indicate that betulin given i.p. has a similar efficacy in attenuating the neuromuscular effects of B. jararacussu venom in vivo and could be a useful complementary measure to antivenom therapy for treating snakebite.
Journal ArticleDOI
Application of nanotechnology for the encapsulation of botanical insecticides for sustainable agriculture: Prospects and promises
Jhones Luiz de Oliveira,Estefânia Vangelie Ramos Campos,Estefânia Vangelie Ramos Campos,Mansi Bakshi,Purushothaman Chirakkuzhyil Abhilash,Leonardo Fernandes Fraceto,Leonardo Fernandes Fraceto +6 more
TL;DR: The use of botanical insecticides associated with nanotechnology offers considerable potential for increasing agricultural productivity, while at the same time reducing impacts on the environment and human health.
Journal ArticleDOI
Polysaccharides as safer release systems for agrochemicals
Estefânia Vangelie Ramos Campos,Estefânia Vangelie Ramos Campos,Jhones Luiz de Oliveira,Leonardo Fernandes Fraceto,Leonardo Fernandes Fraceto,Baljit Singh +5 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the use of polysaccharides in the form of micro-and nanoparticles, beads and hydrogels is discussed, and the main points are: (1) slow release formulations minimize environmental impact by reducing agrochemical leaching, volatilization and degradation.
Journal ArticleDOI
Use of botanical insecticides for sustainable agriculture: Future perspectives
Estefânia Vangelie Ramos Campos,Estefânia Vangelie Ramos Campos,Patrícia L. F. Proença,Jhones Luiz de Oliveira,Mansi Bakshi,Purushothaman Chirakkuzhyil Abhilash,Leonardo Fernandes Fraceto +6 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors discuss perspectives for the use of compounds of botanical origin, as well as strategies employing the encapsulation techniques that can contribute to the development of systems for use in sustainable agricultural practices.
Journal ArticleDOI
How can nanotechnology help to combat COVID-19? Opportunities and urgent need.
Estefânia Vangelie Ramos Campos,Anderson do Espirito Santo Pereira,Jhones Luiz de Oliveira,Lucas Bragança Carvalho,Mariana Guilger-Casagrande,Renata de Lima,Leonardo Fernandes Fraceto +6 more
TL;DR: The use of nanotechnology for COVID-19 virus management is discussed by the development of nano-based materials, such as disinfectants, personal protective equipment, diagnostic systems and nanocarrier systems, for treatments and vaccine development, as well as the challenges and drawbacks that need addressing.
