In this article, we use pattern-diversity technique to combine a RF single-pole double-throw (SPDT) switch with an antenna array together in order to reduce the signal distortion caused by multipath fading. In addition, in order to improve the way controlling the SPDT switch by software, a novel circuit structure which will control antenna pattern switching automatically by hardware is also developed. Return loss and radiation patterns are presented and compared with the measured results. Design of a printed dipole array antenna with wideband power divider and RF switches

This paper proposed a performance simulation of a two-element, microstrip dipole array antenna for WLAN application. Simulation is done using two different simulation techniques, the circuit model (CM) derived from the transmission line model (TLM), and is compared with another simulation set using the Method of Moments (MoM). Both methods are simulated using Microwave Office. The basic microstrip dipole antenna is accurately modeled and the linear array structure is done by combining two basic units. Both simulation sets of MoM and CM are evaluated to determine their level of variation in terms of return loss (Su), bandwidth and resonant frequency (fres). The MoM designed for dipole antennas achieved the best return loss (Su), bandwidth and resonant frequency fres) at the desired frequency. The equivalent circuit proposed produced good return loss and comparable with simulation using MoMs. Details of the proposed antenna design and simulation results for 2.45 GHz WLAN band are presented and deliberated.

The MoM simulated structure is then fabricated and measured to determine the degree of distinction between hardware and the two simulation sets. MoM simulation set is also simulated over different dimensions to determine the level of variation generated by the alterations. Details of the proposed antenna design and simulation results for 2.45 GHz WLAN band are presented and deliberated.

Parametric performance simulation of a proximity-coupled fed microstrip dipole array

A broadband dipole array antenna has been demonstrated in this paper. The printed dipole array antenna consists of one dipole array arranged back to back and can be easily framed by printing on both sides of a dielectric substrate and is suitable for integration with monolithic microwave integrated circuit (MMIC) module. The proposed antenna, including of a 50 Omega microstrip feed line with a match circuit, can be applied to wireless network and operated in WLAN access point application. The gain for 2.45GHz band is about 4.8 dB and the bandwidth is about 1230MHz.
