Journal ArticleDOI

Overview of sulfonamide biodegradation and the relevant pathways and microorganisms.

TL;DR: The removal efficiency of sulfonamides by engineered ecosystems can be improved by optimizing their operating conditions and much higher sulfonamide removal was also observed in upgraded or advanced treatment systems than in conventional activated sludge systems.
Journal ArticleDOI

Sulfadiazine degradation in soils: Dynamics, functional gene, antibiotic resistance genes and microbial community.

TL;DR: A gene was for the first time detected in soil samples, but other functional genes might also participate in SDZ degradation and provide a potential resource for the bioremediation of SDZ-contaminated soil.
Journal ArticleDOI

Biodegradation of sulfonamides in both oxic and anoxic zones of vertical flow constructed wetland and the potential degraders.

TL;DR: VF-CW is a suitable alternative for swine wastewater treatment, and biodegradation plays the key role in sulfonamides abatement, this was the first work to combine bacterial community analysis with microcosm experiments to uncover the major removal mechanism of sulf onamides in constructed wetlands.
Journal ArticleDOI

Eutrophication influences methanotrophic activity, abundance and community structure in freshwater lakes.

TL;DR: The result of pmoA-based high-throughput sequencing suggested that methanotrophic communities in the two studied lakes were dominated by unique groups (Type Ib and Type II), dependent on lake and season, and generally, eutrophication might lead to a higher proportion of Type II meethanotrophs.
Journal ArticleDOI

Seasonal and spatial dynamics of denitrification rate and denitrifier community in constructed wetland treating polluted river water

TL;DR: In this article, the seasonal and spatial dynamics of denitrification rate and nirS-denitrifier communities and the potential influential factors in a large wetland system treating polluted river water were investigated.
