TL;DR: In this paper, the reaction of diglycolic acid O(CH 2 COOH) 2 with Cu(NO 3 ) 2 ·2H 2 O and hydrated gadolinium nitrate at pH 7 produced a novel LnCu mixed metal complex, which was characterized by elemental analysis, IR spectrum and X-ray crystallography.

Abstract: The reaction of diglycolic acid, O(CH2CO2H)2, with Cu(NO3)2·2H2O and lanthanoid nitrate hydrate produces a series of novel Ln–Cu mixed metal complexes, [Ln2Cu3{O(CH2CO2)2}6]·nH2O (Ln=La, Nd, n=9; Ln=Er, n=6), which have been characterized by elemental analysis, i.r. spectroscopy, magnetic measurements and X-ray crystallography. The Ln3+ and Cu2+ ions are connected by the carboxylate groups of the ligands, resulting in the formation of a complicated network.

Abstract: A new quaternary compound La 3 AgSe 7 Si has been synthesized by solid state reaction at high temperature and its crystal structure determined. It crystallized in the hexagonal system, space group P6 3 with a =10.576(3) A, c =5.907(5) A; V =580.3(9) A 3 ; Z =2; Dc =6.33 g cm −3 ; F (000)=940; μ =34.32 cm −1 . The final R and Rw are 0.0686 and 0.0839 respectively for 699 observed reflections. The structure consists of three kinds of polyhedra, LaSe 8 bi-capped trigonal prism, SiSe 4 tetrahedron and AgSe 3 triangle. The packing of lanthanum selenide polyhedra creates channels and tetrahedral holes along the c direction which are occupied by silver and silicon atoms, respectively.
