Compressive strengths and dynamic response of corrugated metal sandwich plates with unfilled and foam-filled sinusoidal plate cores
TL;DR: In this article, the compressive strengths and dynamic response of corrugated sandwich plates with unfilled and foam-filled sinusoidal plate cores are investigated, and a simplified plastic-string model is developed to analytically predict the large deflection and time responses of the clamped sandwich plates under impulsive loading.
Journal ArticleDOI
Comparison of the microstructure and mechanical performance of 2A97 Al-Li alloy joints between autogenous and non-autogenous laser welding
TL;DR: In this paper, the results of microhardness tests showed that the fusion zones (FZ) in both types of joints were relatively soft and the width of the softened zone and the degree of softening with ALW was approximately 1/3 and 3/4 those with non-autogenous laser welding (NLW), respectively, the main reason for the softening was that the alloying elements were more concentrated in the grain boundary but non-uniformly distributed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Narrow gap multi-pass laser butt welding of explosion welded CP-Ti/Q235B bimetallic sheet by using a copper interlayer
TL;DR: In this paper, a laser butt welding of explosion welded Ti/steel bimetallic sheet is performed in this work, and the results showed that cracks usually observed in the transition zone of arc welded joint could be effectively avoided by using laser welding and a copper interlayer.
Journal ArticleDOI
Blast response of geometrically asymmetric metal honeycomb sandwich plate: Experimental and theoretical investigations
TL;DR: In this article, the dynamic response of geometrically asymmetric sandwich plates with aluminum hexagonal honeycomb core subjected to blast loading is investigated experimentally and theoretically, and it is shown that the theoretical predictions of the deflection of the center point at the rear face sheet is in good agreement with the experimental results.
Journal ArticleDOI
Low-velocity impact response of geometrically asymmetric slender sandwich beams with metal foam core
TL;DR: In this paper, the impact response of fully clamped slender metal foam core sandwich beams with geometrically asymmetric cross-section struck by a heavy mass at midspan is investigated.
