Intraperitoneal supplementation of iron alleviates dextran sodium sulfate-induced colitis by enhancing intestinal barrier function.

TL;DR: In this paper, the interrelationship between systemic iron, intestinal barrier and the development of intestinal inflammation in a dextran sulfate sodium (DSS) induced experimental colitis mice model was characterized.

Distribution of Lactoferrin Is Related with Dynamics of Neutrophils in Bacterial Infected Mice Intestine

TL;DR: Investigating the distribution of Lf in mice intestine during Escherichia coli K88 infection found that the infiltration of neutrophils into intestine tissues was changed similarly to Lf expression, which indicated that the variations of L f expression were rather due to an equilibrium between the recruitment of neutophils and degranulation of activated neutrophil.
