Rutin attenuates doxorubicin-induced cardiotoxicity via regulating autophagy and apoptosis ☆

TL;DR: The findings suggest that suppression of autophagy and apoptosis by administration of rutin could attenuate doxorubicin-induced cardiotoxicity, which enhances the knowledge to explore new drugs and strategies for combating this devastating side effect induced by doxorbicin.
Journal ArticleDOI

Naringenin ameliorates hypoxia/reoxygenation-induced endoplasmic reticulum stress-mediated apoptosis in H9c2 myocardial cells: involvement in ATF6, IRE1α and PERK signaling activation

TL;DR: Investigating whether naringenin protects H9c2 myocardial cells against hypoxia/reoxygenation (H/R) injury via attenuating ER stress or ER stress-mediated apoptosis found that ATF6 siRNA, PERK siRNA or IRE1α siRNA abolished H/R-induced cytotoxicity and apoptosis in H9 c2 cells.
Journal ArticleDOI

Cardiac-specific overexpression of metallothionein attenuates myocardial remodeling and contractile dysfunction in l-NAME-induced experimental hypertension: Role of autophagy regulation.

TL;DR: It is suggested that metallothionein protects against l-NAME-induced myocardial anomalies possibly through restoration of autophagy, and was attenuated or reconciled by metallothsionein.
