In Vivo Imaging of Proteolytic Activity in Atherosclerosis
Jiqiu Chen,Ching-Hsuan Tung,Umar Mahmood,Vasilis Ntziachristos,Robert Gyurko,Mark C. Fishman,Paul L. Huang,Ralph Weissleder +7 more
TL;DR: Cathepsin B, and potentially other proteases, may serve as a biomarker for vulnerable plaques when probed with beacons and the tomographic in vivo imaging method could be readily adapted to screening and potentially to the molecular profiling of a number of proteases in vulnerable plaque in vivo.
Journal ArticleDOI
Innate Immune Recognition of Invasive Bacteria Accelerates Atherosclerosis in Apolipoprotein E-Deficient Mice
Frank C. Gibson,Charlie Hong,Hsin Hua Chou,Hiromichi Yumoto,Jiqiu Chen,Egil Lien,Egil Lien,Jodie Wong,Caroline A. Genco +8 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that immunization to control P gingivalis–elicited periodontal disease concomitantly prevents P gedivalis-accelerated atherosclerosis.
Journal ArticleDOI
FTO-Dependent N 6 -Methyladenosine Regulates Cardiac Function During Remodeling and Repair.
Prabhu Mathiyalagan,Marta Adamiak,Joshua Mayourian,Yassine Sassi,Yaxuan Liang,Neha Agarwal,Divya Jha,Shihong Zhang,Erik Kohlbrenner,Elena Chepurko,Jiqiu Chen,Maria G. Trivieri,Rajvir Singh,Rihab Bouchareb,Kenneth Fish,Kiyotake Ishikawa,Djamel Lebeche,Roger J. Hajjar,Susmita Sahoo +18 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors showed that the fat mass and obesity-assessment of N6-methyladenosine (m6A) in the heart are similar to those found in other organs.
Journal ArticleDOI
Resident c-kit(+) cells in the heart are not cardiac stem cells.
Nishat Sultana,Lu Zhang,Jianyun Yan,Jiqiu Chen,Weibin Cai,Shegufta Razzaque,Dongtak Jeong,Wei Sheng,Lei Bu,Mingjiang Xu,Guo Ying Huang,Roger J. Hajjar,Bin Zhou,Anne M. Moon,Chen-Leng Cai +14 more
TL;DR: It is strongly suggested that c-kit+ cells in the murine heart are endothelial cells and not CSCs, which predominantly labels a cardiac endothelial cell population in developing and adult hearts.
Journal ArticleDOI
Genetic Deficiency of Inducible Nitric Oxide Synthase Reduces Atherosclerosis and Lowers Plasma Lipid Peroxides in Apolipoprotein E–Knockout Mice
TL;DR: Genetic deficiency of iNOS decreases diet-induced atherosclerosis and lowers plasma levels of lipoperoxides, a marker for oxidative stress, in apoE-KO animals, indicating reduction in iNos-mediated oxidative stress could partly explain protection from lesion formation in dKO animals.
