Journal ArticleDOI
Senescence of human fibroblasts induced by oncogenic Raf
TL;DR: It is concluded that the kinase cascade initiated by Raf can regulate the expression of p16(Ink4a) and the proliferative arrest and senescence that follows and may provide a defense against neoplastic transformation when the MAP kinase signaling cascade is inappropriately active.
Journal ArticleDOI
Telomerase extends the lifespan of virus-transformed human cells without net telomere lengthening
TL;DR: It is reported that ectopic expression of the wild-type reverse transcriptase protein (hTERT) of human telomerase averts crisis, at the same time reducing the frequency of dicentric and abnormal chromosomes.
Journal ArticleDOI
Overexpression of MYC causes p53-dependent G2 arrest of normal fibroblasts
TL;DR: It is reported that the overexpression of MYC alone cannot sustain the division cycle of normal cells but instead leads to their arrest in G(2), which dramatize how multiple genetic events can collaborate to produce neoplastic cells.
