Solutional features and cave deposits related to hypogene speleogenetic processes in a littoral cave of Mallorca Island (western Mediterranean)

TL;DR: The Cova des Pas de Vallgornera as discussed by the authors is an exceptional coastal cave because of its particular morphological features and the presence of deposits with uncommon mineralogies, and it is suspected that ascending Sr, Ba, Mn, and Al-rich hypogene solutions may have reacted with the host rock to form this unique mineral assemblage.
Journal ArticleDOI

Geomorphological characteristics and slope processes associated with different basins: Mallorca (Western Mediterranean)

TL;DR: In this article, the authors compare the different geomorphological processes which occurred in Pliocene-Quaternary times on two very similar slopes in Mallorca, one located at the Tramuntana Range and the other in the Llevant Ranges.
Journal ArticleDOI

Comparison of 14C and U-Th ages of two Holocene phreatic overgrowths on speleothems from Mallorca (Western Mediterranean): Environmental implications

TL;DR: In this article, the authors present the following: Paola Tuccimei, Mark Van Stryck, Angel Ginés, Joaquín Ginés and Michele Soligo.
Journal ArticleDOI

Structural Control on the Presence and Character of Calas: Observations from Balearic Islands Limestone Rock Coast Macroforms

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors studied the factors that control the presence and character of calas in three different islands of the Balearic Archipelago (Mallorca, Menorca and Formentera) by means of Digital Elevation Model (DEM) reconstructions, embayment and catchment morphometric analysis and through the compilation of fault and joint orientations.
Journal ArticleDOI

Linking mineral deposits to speleogenetic processes in Cova des Pas de Vallgornera (Mallorca, Spain)

TL;DR: Onac et al. as discussed by the authors used the term vent to refer to the aperture of feeders in floor passages (i.e., the outlet where the water and/or hot air was/is emerging), around which a mineral rim commonly occurred.
