TL;DR: In this paper, the second-order Hamiltonian was derived from the ponderomotive force on the oscillation center of a particle in a high-frequency field and the standard linear Vlasov susceptibility.
Abstract: We have obtained an exact, simple, and general relation between the second-order Hamiltonian, representing the ponderomotive force on the oscillation center of a particle in a high-frequency field, and the standard linear Vlasov susceptibility.

TL;DR: In this article, an alternate proof of the remainder function expression is given, based on the transformations of particle trajectories, using this expression, a proof of symmetry-equals-invariant theorem is given.
Abstract: Expressions for the remainder function of a time dependent infinitesimally generated canonical transformation have recently been found by Dewar, who considered the action of the transformation operators on Liouville’s equation. Here an alternate proof of the remainder function expression is given, based on the transformations of particle trajectories. Then, using this expression, a proof of the symmetry‐equals‐invariant theorem is given.

TL;DR: Using the general expression for the ponderomotive Hamiltonian, the quasi-static quasi-neutral density change caused by a cold magnetoplasma wave of arbitrary frequency and polarization was obtained in this paper.
Abstract: Using the general expression for the ponderomotive Hamiltonian, the quasi-static quasi-neutral density change caused by the ponderomotive force of a cold magnetoplasma wave of arbitrary frequency and polarization is obtained. This formula agrees with and extends previous results for unmagnetized and magnetized plasma.
