Journal ArticleDOI

Physiological Processes and Dynamics in the Disposition of Small and Large Doses of Biologically Active and Inactive 131I-Insulins in the Rat

TL;DR: Present data suggest that the heavily iodinated, biologically inactive 131I-insulin diffuses into and out of the kidney and liver with little, if any, chemical reaction.
Journal ArticleDOI

Degradation of 131I-Insulins by Rat Liver STUDIES IN VITRO

TL;DR: The results indicate that 131I-insulins are rapidly degraded by proteolysis to simple amino acid constituents by the liver, and confirms nor denies that reductive cleavage of interchain —S—S— bonds of insulins is an initial step in the degradation of insulin.
Journal ArticleDOI

Insulin-Glucose Dispersion and Interaction System: Liver Control Mechanisms

TL;DR: A proposed model describing the insulin and glucose dispersion systems and the interaction between them is capable of explaining qualitatively how plasma insulin and sugar levels are maintained.
