TL;DR: In this article, the authors provide a summary of factors affecting floor vibrations and discuss available damping systems which can be used to reduce vibration levels in floor systems, including light weight floors, floor systems with low stiffness where the floor dominant natural frequency is close to the excitation frequency.

Accelerograms for Dynamic Analysis under the New Australian Standard for Earthquake Actions

TL;DR: In this article, an ensemble of artificial accelograms developed using scholastic simulations that are both appropriate for the hard rock and rock conditions in Australia is discussed, and the comparison shows good agreement between the simulated motions and the new Australian Standard for earthquake actions as well as the Somerville model in terms of their corner period behavior.
