TL;DR: It is considered that Trail-Aware is an evolution of the simple use of contexts and profiles, and its application in an educational environment for distribution of learning objects using trail-aware is presented.
Abstract: In mobile computing environments, the tracking of users allows applications to adapt to the contexts visited by users (Context Awareness). In recent years, the use of context information and users’ profiles has been considered an opportunity for context-aware content management. The improvement and the wide adoption of location systems are stimulating the tracking of users, allowing the use of Trails. A trail is the history of the contexts visited by a user during a period. This article proposes a model for trails management and its application in the content management. In this text, we consider that Trail-Aware is an evolution of the simple use of contexts and profiles. The text presents a prototype and its application in an educational environment for distribution of learning objects using trail-aware.

TL;DR: The results generated important insights into the ergonomic, technological and pedagogical possibilities and limitations of mobile and wireless technologies for corporate training and also on methodologies and learning tools that can be applied to m-learning.
Abstract: This paper presents the results of a study that addresses the following question: what are the real possibilities of m-learning (mobile learning) for the development of individual competences and also for collaboration in the organizational setting? The paper analyzes a real experience in mlearning for training IT professionals. For this purpose a mobile virtual learning environment called COMTEXT was developed and implemented, which was designed to support competence development for workers using PocketPCs. The participants of the training activity (13 professionals) evaluated the m-learning experience via a structured questionnaire; all the content and interactions within COMTEXT were analyzed via content analysis. The results generated important insights into the ergonomic, technological and pedagogical possibilities and limitations of mobile and wireless technologies for corporate training and also on methodologies and learning tools that can be applied to m-learning. As an exploratory study, it also indicates issues for further research on m-learning in the organizational context.

TL;DR: This paper presents the GlobalEdu model for content management and an experiment performed to validate it and is a computing environment which aims at supporting Ubiquitous Learning.
Abstract: Mobility of users carrying mobile devices with access to wireless networks creates the need to provide uniform and immediate access to information. In this scenario, a new educational model, called Ubiquitous Learning, has been studied. In this model, the educational processes are related to the learner's situation, i.e. they are context-aware. This allows the access to educational resources be adapted to the learner's profile and context. GlobalEdu is a computing environment which aims at supporting Ubiquitous Learning. This paper1 presents the GlobalEdu model for content management and an experiment performed to validate it.

TL;DR: In this article, a servico of Sistema de Recomendacao focado em Filtragem Baseada em Conteudo (FBC) for ambientes moveis is presented.

TL;DR: This analysis starts with the discussion of limitations in the use of traditional programming models, and then goes on to the proposition of techniques to address these limitations.
Abstract: The growing availability of wireless networks and the proliferation of portable devices have made mobile computing a reality. Furthermore, the widespread use of location systems stimulates the creation of context-aware and adaptive systems. Ubiquitous computing integrates and extends these approaches through a new proposal where users’ applications are available in a suitable adapted form, wherever they go and however they move. In this scenario, issues related to development of software need to be tackled. This chapter reviews essential concepts of the ubiquitous computing area, its evolution, and challenges that must be managed. To deal with these issues, the authors describe the main requirements for the development of ubiquitous software. This analysis starts with the discussion of limitations in the use of traditional programming models, and then goes on to the proposition of techniques to address these limitations. The authors trust that this discussion can help the future development of ubiquitous applications. DOI: 10.4018/978-1-61520-843-2.ch015

TL;DR: This work presents an alternative to the classic ubiquitous environments: a model of services connectivity called Ubiservices, that focuses on providing connectivity to environments made up of unstructured Ad Hoc networks.
Abstract: With the fast evolution of the computing devices, its reduced size and cost, there is an immersion of people in the digital world. With the use of more technology, abundant and cheap, environments that can take advantage of the ubiquitous computing emerge, allowing its users to interact and have access to information easily, quickly and naturally. However, classic ubiquitous environments were defined needing a large installed infrastructure to work properly, something that is not a reality nowadays. This work presents an alternative to the classic ubiquitous environments: a model of services connectivity called Ubiservices, that focuses on providing connectivity to environments made up of unstructured Ad Hoc networks.

TL;DR: The results indicated the model feasibility, particularly in regard to its most significant contribution, that is, the integration of the support to the roles of supplier and consumer.
Abstract: The mobile and ubiquitous computing has been stimulated by the widespread diffusion of mobile devices, wireless networks, and, more recently, by location systems. In this context, applications are emerging in different areas, such as, education, entertainment, and commerce. The application of the ubiquitous computing in the exploration of business opportunities is called Ubiquitous Commerce. This paper proposes the UbiTrade model, which aims at supporting the ubiquitous commerce. Considering the related works, we can note that the proposed model is the only that allows the user to act either in the supplier role or in the consumer character. In addition, most of the current proposals are restricted to a specific area of business. The UbiTrade does not have this restriction. The model was implemented and its validation was conducted by a group of users. The results indicated the model feasibility, particularly in regard to its most significant contribution, that is, the integration of the support to the roles of supplier and consumer.
