The cell cycle and seed germination

TL;DR: Seed germination appears to be an excellent model system for studying the cell cycle in plants and knowledge of cell cycle events and their importance for germination is still scarce and fragmentary, and different species may have developed unique control mechanisms, more suited to specific germination characteristics and habitat.
Journal ArticleDOI

Differential response of PCNA and Cdk-A proteins and associated kinase activities to benzyladenine and abscisic acid during maize seed germination

TL;DR: Flow cytometry has been used to study the influence of the phytohormones benzyladenine (BA) and abscisic acid (ABA) on cell cycle advancement during maize germination and it was found that, while BA accelerates the passage of cells from G( 1) to G(2), ABA delays cell cycle events so that most cells seem to remain in G(1).
Journal ArticleDOI

Tetracycline and its quantum dots for recognition of Al3+ and application in milk developing cells bio-imaging.

TL;DR: A technique that detects Al3+ in milk/bio-samples and reversibly applied to recognize tetracycline in milk, enhancing the fluorescence intensity without interference from other cations is developed, revealing that the lowering of the energy of HOMO (Highly Occupied Molecular Orbital) discourages the electron transfer from HomO of fluorophore to HOMM of excited states of Al-complex that increases the fluorescent intensity.
Journal ArticleDOI

Ciprofloxacin as chemosensor for simultaneous recognition of Al3+ and Cu2+ by Logic Gates supported fluorescence: Application to bio-imaging for living cells

TL;DR: In this article, the authors used the antibiotic ciprofloxacin (Cipro) as a chemosensor for the simultaneous detection of Al 3+ and Cu 2+ by fluorescent assisted logic gates.
Journal ArticleDOI

Maize Cyclin D2 Expression, Associated Kinase Activity and Effect of Phytohormones During Germination

TL;DR: Two cyclic-dependent kinase A (Cdk-A)-type proteins and proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA) were found co-immunoprecipitating with cyclin D2, and these immunoprecIPitates were able to phosphorylate both histone H1 and the maize retinoblastoma-related protein (RBR).
