Journal ArticleDOI
Prevalence, predictors and clinical outcome of residual congestion in acute decompensated heart failure
Jorge Rubio-Gracia,Biniyam G. Demissei,Jozine M. ter Maaten,John G.F. Cleland,Christopher M. O'Connor,Marco Metra,Piotr Ponikowski,John R. Teerlink,Gad Cotter,Beth A. Davison,Michael M. Givertz,Daniel M. Bloomfield,Howard C. Dittrich,Kevin Damman,Juan Ignacio Pérez-Calvo,Adriaan A. Voors +15 more
TL;DR: Most patients with acute decompensated heart failure still have residual congestion 7 days after hospitalization, and the presence of significant residual congestion at day 7 or discharge was independently associated with increased risk of re-admissions for heart failure by day 60 and all-cause mortality by day 180.
Journal ArticleDOI
Point-of-care lung ultrasound assessment for risk stratification and therapy guiding in COVID-19 patients. A prospective non-interventional study.
Jorge Rubio-Gracia,Ignacio Giménez-López,Vanesa Garcés-Horna,Daniel López-Delgado,Jose Luis Sierra-Monzón,Luis Martínez-Lostao,Claudia Josa-Laorden,Fernando Ruiz-Laiglesia,Juan Ignacio Pérez-Calvo,Silvia Crespo-Aznarez,Javier García-Lafuente,Natacha Peña Fresneda,Beatriz Amores Arriaga,Borja Gracia-Tello,Marta Sánchez-Marteles +14 more
TL;DR: In this article, a quantitative scale (LUZ-score) was used to assess lung injury caused by COVID-19 in COVID19 hospitalised patients, which is an easy, simple and fast point-of-care ultrasound tool to identify patients with severe lung injury.
Journal ArticleDOI
Early Measurement of Blood sST2 Is a Good Predictor of Death and Poor Outcomes in Patients Admitted for COVID-19 Infection.
Marta Sánchez-Marteles,Jorge Rubio-Gracia,Natacha Peña-Fresneda,Vanesa Garcés-Horna,Borja Gracia-Tello,Luis Martínez-Lostao,Silvia Crespo-Aznarez,Juan Ignacio Pérez-Calvo,I. Giménez-López,I. Giménez-López +9 more
TL;DR: The area under the receiver operating characteristics curve (AUC) of sST2 for endpoints was 0.776 (p = 0.001) as discussed by the authors, where the AUC is defined as the difference between the mean and the standard deviation (SD) of SST2.
Journal ArticleDOI
Valor pronóstico de la valoración multimodal de la congestión en la insuficiencia cardiaca aguda
Jorge Rubio-Gracia,Ignacio Giménez-López,C. Josa-Laorden,Marta Sánchez-Marteles,V. Garcés-Horna,F. Ruiz-Laiglesia,P. Sampériz Legarre,E. Bueno Juana,B. Amores-Arriaga,J.I. Pérez-Calvo +9 more
TL;DR: This article evaluated the use of fragmento amino terminal del peptido natriuretico cerebral (NT-proBNP), antigeno de cancer 125 (CA125), hallazgos de la ecografia pulmonar, estimacion del volumen plasmatico relativo (VPr) and el cociente urea/creatinina, as well as parametros subrogados de congestion venosa and predictores of mortalidad.

Early measurement of blood sST2 is a good predictor of death and poor outcomes in patients admitted for COVID-19 infection
Marta Sánchez-Marteles,Jorge Rubio-Gracia,Natacha Peña-Fresneda,Vanesa Garcés-Horna,Borja Gracia-Tello,Luis Martínez-Lostao,Silvia Crespo-Aznarez,Juan Ignacio Pérez-Calvo,I. Giménez-López,I. Giménez-López +9 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors hypothesized that circulating soluble ST2 (sST2) could be associated with a worse outcome, prompted by previous knowledge of sST2 involvement in heart failure-associated lung deterioration, and by mounting evidence favoring a role of IL-33/ST2 axis in the disease.
