Journal ArticleDOI

Effects of antioxidants and duration of pre-freezing equilibration on frozen-thawed ram semen

TL;DR: Adding GSH, SOD or CAT did not increase the total antioxidant capacity of semen, nor did it enhance the quality of the post-thaw sperm, but maintenance of ram semen at 5 °C for 12 h prior to cryopreservation reduced membrane damage of frozen-thawed sperm.
Journal ArticleDOI

In vitro and in vivo evaluation of ram sperm frozen in tris egg-yolk and supplemented with superoxide dismutase and reduced glutathione.

TL;DR: The ultrastructural analysis revealed that the acrosome was better preserved after freezing in the SOD 100 U/ml and GSH 2 and 5 mM groups than the other groups, whereas mitochondria in both the control group and the 7 mM GSH group suffered the greatest damage.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effects of reduced glutathione and catalase on the kinematics and membrane functionality of sperm during liquid storage of ram semen

TL;DR: No significant differences were observed in progressive sperm motility throughout processing, regardless of the treatment and time of evaluation, and the supplementation of diluents with 100 and 200 U/mL of CAT prevented the harmful effects of cooling on total sperm motilty.
Journal ArticleDOI

Vitamin E (Trolox) addition to Tris-egg yolk extender preserves ram spermatozoon structure and kinematics after cryopreservation.

TL;DR: Results indicate that Trolox addition to Tris-egg yolk at 60 and 120μM provides greater structural integrity (plasma membrane and mitochondria) and kinematics for ram spermatozoa after cryopreservation.
Journal ArticleDOI

Strategies to improve the reproductive efficiency of goats in Brazil

TL;DR: The process of cooling and freezing semen, some semen extenders, the powder coconut water as an alternative semen extender, some information about artificial insemination, the artificial inSEmination technique are covered and the results of the use of extender based on coconut water in goats are presented.
