Decomposition of Triacetone Triperoxide Is an Entropic Explosion

TL;DR: Both X-ray crystallography and electronic structure calculations using the cc-pVDZ basis set at the DFT B3LYP level were employed to study the explosive properties of triacetone triperoxide (TATP) and diacetone diperoxide and predict that the explosion of TATP is not a thermochemically highly favored event.
Journal ArticleDOI

Utility of Postmortem Computed Tomography in Trauma Victims

TL;DR: Although PMCT was not more effective than conventional autopsy in exposing pathologic entities, it increased the yield of findings when combined with conventional autopsy, and may be effective in shedding light on the pathologic state and mechanism of death in trauma fatalities.
Journal ArticleDOI

Application of nanoparticles for the enhancement of latent fingerprints

TL;DR: The hydrophobic capped gold nanoparticles significantly improve the intensity and clarity of the developed prints compared with Ag-PD alone; finger marks treated with CdSe/ZnS nanoparticles can be viewed directly, due to their fluorescence under UV illumination.
Journal ArticleDOI

Genipin--a novel fingerprint reagent with colorimetric and fluorogenic activity.

TL;DR: Genipin, the hydrolytic product of geniposide, which is extracted from gardenia fruit, shows good potential as a fingerprint reagent that develops latent fingerprints on paper as blue impressions with good contrast and resolution.
