Journal ArticleDOI
Hybrid organic-inorganic thermoplastics : Styryl-based polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane polymers
TL;DR: In this article, a series of linear thermoplastic hybrid materials containing an organic polystyrene backbone and large inorganic silsesquioxane groups pendent to the polymer backbone have been synthesized and characterized.
Journal ArticleDOI
Linear Hybrid Polymer Building Blocks: Methacrylate-Functionalized Polyhedral Oligomeric Silsesquioxane Monomers and Polymers
Journal ArticleDOI
Polymer/layered silicate nanocomposites as high performance ablative materials
TL;DR: In this article, the ablative performance of poly(caprolactam) (nylon 6) nanocomposites is examined, and it is shown that a relatively tough, inorganic char forms during the ablation of these nanocom composites resulting in at least an order-of-magnitude decrease in the mass loss (erosion) rate relative to the neat polymer.
Journal ArticleDOI
Mechanical Relaxation and Microstructure of Poly(norbornyl-POSS) Copolymers
TL;DR: The mechanical relaxation behavior and microstructure of a series of novel norbornyl−POSS organic−inorganic copolymers have been investigated in this article, where it was observed that POSS copolymerization enhances the α-relaxation temperature, Tα, in proportion to the weight fraction of the POSS−norbornyl comonomer.
Journal ArticleDOI
Polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane(POSS)‐based polymers
TL;DR: A diverse and entirely new class of monomer and polymer technology based on polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane (POSS) reagents has been developed.
