Crystalline salt of the sodium anion (Na
Journal ArticleDOI
Nuclear magnetic resonance studies of alkali metal anions
TL;DR: In this paper, the NMR chemical shift and line width were measured for /sup 23/Na/sup -/ in tetrahydrofuran (THF), ethylamine (EA), and methylamines (MA), and the counterion was the 2,2,2 cryptate complex of the corresponding cation.
Journal ArticleDOI
Sodium-23 nuclear magnetic resonance study of exchange rates. Sodium cryptate in ethylenediamine
Joseph M. Ceraso,James L. Dye +1 more
Journal ArticleDOI
A sodium-23 nuclear magnetic resonance study of the exchange kinetics of sodium(1+) ion with 2,2,2-cryptate complexes in water, ethylenediamine, tetrahydrofuran, and pyridine
TL;DR: In this article, the measurement conditions and data treatment used to obtain accurate rate constants and activation energies from /sup 23/Na pulsed Fourier transform data are described in detail, and application is made to the exchange of Na/sup +/ between the free state and the complex with 2,2,2-cryptand in four solvents.
Journal ArticleDOI
Alkali Metal solutions Effect of Two Cyclic Polyethers on solubility and Spectra
James L. Dye,Mei Tak Lok,Frederick J. Tehan,Richard B. Coolen,Nicholas Papadakis,Joseph M. Ceraso,Marc G. DeBacker +6 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the use of cyclic polyethers to complex the cations results mainly in the formation of M− as the reducing species, the bicycle polyether, "cryptate" yields in addition, substantial concentrations of solvated electrons.
