Nuclear magnetic resonance studies of alkali metal anions

TL;DR: In this paper, the NMR chemical shift and line width were measured for /sup 23/Na/sup -/ in tetrahydrofuran (THF), ethylamine (EA), and methylamines (MA), and the counterion was the 2,2,2 cryptate complex of the corresponding cation.
Journal ArticleDOI

A sodium-23 nuclear magnetic resonance study of the exchange kinetics of sodium(1+) ion with 2,2,2-cryptate complexes in water, ethylenediamine, tetrahydrofuran, and pyridine

TL;DR: In this article, the measurement conditions and data treatment used to obtain accurate rate constants and activation energies from /sup 23/Na pulsed Fourier transform data are described in detail, and application is made to the exchange of Na/sup +/ between the free state and the complex with 2,2,2-cryptand in four solvents.
Journal ArticleDOI

Alkali Metal solutions Effect of Two Cyclic Polyethers on solubility and Spectra

TL;DR: In this paper, the use of cyclic polyethers to complex the cations results mainly in the formation of M− as the reducing species, the bicycle polyether, "cryptate" yields in addition, substantial concentrations of solvated electrons.
