Journal ArticleDOI
Enhancement of the nanofibrillation of wood cellulose through sequential periodate-chlorite oxidation.
TL;DR: Sequential regioselective periodate-chlorite oxidation was employed as a new and efficient pretreatment to enhance the nanofibrillation of hardwood cellulose pulp through homogenization and maintained their cellulose I crystalline structure according to wide-angle X-ray diffraction results.
Journal ArticleDOI
Periodate oxidation of cellulose at elevated temperatures using metal salts as cellulose activators
TL;DR: In this paper, it has been shown that temperatures up to 85 °C can be used during the oxidation of dialdehyde cellulose at elevated temperatures by sodium periodate, which provides possibility to use a lower amount of periodate to obtain high aldehyde contents in DAC.
Journal ArticleDOI
Coagulation–flocculation treatment of municipal wastewater based on anionized nanocelluloses
TL;DR: In this article, dicarboxylic acid nanocellulose (DCC) flocculants were produced by nanofibrillation of periodate and chlorite-oxidized celluloses with a homogenizer.
Journal ArticleDOI
Biocomposite cellulose-alginate films: promising packaging materials.
TL;DR: The biocomposite films showed excellent grease barrier properties and reduced water vapour permeability (WVP) after the addition of cellulose fibres, except when unmodified birch pulp was used.
Journal ArticleDOI
Sulfonated cellulose nanofibrils obtained from wood pulp through regioselective oxidative bisulfite pre-treatment
TL;DR: In this paper, the consecutive pre-treatment of cellulose with periodate and bisulfite was used as a new potential method to promote nanofibrillation of hardwood pulp and to obtain sulfonated functionality.
