We present the science and technology roadmap for graphene, related two-dimensional crystals, and hybrid systems, targeting an evolution in technology, that might lead to impacts and benefits reaching into most areas of society. This roadmap was developed within the framework of the European Graphene Flagship and outlines the main targets and research areas as best understood at the start of this ambitious project. We provide an overview of the key aspects of graphene and related materials (GRMs), ranging from fundamental research challenges to a variety of applications in a large number of sectors, highlighting the steps necessary to take GRMs from a state of raw potential to a point where they might revolutionize multiple industries. We also define an extensive list of acronyms in an effort to standardize the nomenclature in this emerging field.

Recent years have perceived many innovations in research and advancement of graphene, the thinnest two-dimensional atomic material. Graphene-based materials and their composites possess promising applications in wide range of fields such as, electronics, biomedical aids, membranes, flexible wearable sensors and actuators. The latest studies and progression in this subject area often produce inconsistent or inconclusive results. This review article assesses and summarises published data so as to provide a critical and comprehensive overview of state of the art. Firstly, the distinct structural nature of the graphene materials available is elucidated, as well as different production techniques available thus far. The assessment then discusses the various composites focusing different sub-functional regimes such as mechanical and collective functional applications such as energy, electronics biomedical, membranes and sensors. The utilisation of graphene and its derivatives in the manufacture of nanocomposites with different polymer matrices has been reconnoitred. Finally, a conclusion and perspective are given to discussing the remaining challenges for graphene nanocomposites in functional science and engineering.

Graphene-based materials and their composites: A review on production, applications and product limitations

High-performance graphene microwave absorption materials are highly desirable in daily life and some extreme situations. A simple technique for the direct growth of graphene as absorption fillers in wave-transmitting matrices is of paramount importance to bring it to real-world application. Herein, a simple chemical vapor deposition (CVD) route for the direct growth of edge-rich graphene (ERG) with tailored structures and tunable dielectric properties in porous Si3N4 ceramics using only methyl alcohol (CH3OH) as precursor is reported. The large O/C atomic ratio of CH3OH helps to build a mild oxidizing atmosphere and leads to a unique structure featuring open graphite nanosteps and freestanding nanoplanes, endowing the ERG/Si3N4 hybrid with an appropriate balance between good impedance matching and strong loss capacity. Accordingly, the prepared materials exhibit superior electromagnetic wave absorption, far surpassing that of traditional CVD graphene and reduced graphene oxide-based materials, achieving an effective absorption bandwidth of 4.2 GHz covering the entire X band, with a thickness of 3.75 mm and a negligibly low loading content of absorbents. The results provide new insights for developing novel microwave absorption materials with strong reflection loss and wide absorption frequency range.

Direct Growth of Edge-Rich Graphene with Tunable Dielectric Properties in Porous Si3N4 Ceramic for Broadband High-Performance Microwave Absorption

Large-area reduced graphene oxide thin film with excellent thermal conductivity and electromagnetic interference shielding effectiveness

Electromagnetic protection in optoelectronic instruments such as optical windows and electronic displays is challenging because of the essential requirements of a high optical transmittance and an electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding effectiveness (SE). Herein, we demonstrate the creation of an efficient transparent EMI shielding film that is composed of calcium alginate (CA), silver nanowires (AgNWs), and polyurethane (PU), via a facile and low-cost Mayer-rod coating method. The CA/AgNW/PU film with a high optical transmittance of 92% achieves an EMI SE of 20.7 dB, which meets the requirements for commercial shielding applications. A superior EMI SE of 31.3 dB could be achieved, whereas the transparent film still maintains a transmittance of 81%. Highly Efficient and Reliable Transparent Electromagnetic Interference Shielding Film.

We report the first experimental results on the electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding effectiveness (SE) of monolayer graphene. The monolayer CVD graphene has an average SE value of 2.27 dB, corresponding to ~40% shielding of incident waves. CVD graphene shows more than seven times (in terms of dB) greater SE than gold film. The dominant mechanism is absorption rather than reflection, and the portion of absorption decreases with an increase in the number of graphene layers. Our modeling work shows that plane-wave theory for metal shielding is also applicable to graphene. The model predicts that ideal monolayer graphene can shield as much as 97.8% of EMI. This suggests the feasibility of manufacturing an ultrathin, transparent, and flexible EMI shield by single or few-layer graphene.

본 논문에서는 지능형 전장인식을 위한 엣지 컴퓨팅 기반 인공지능 가속기의 시스템 구성에 따른 성능 및 전력을 분석하였다. 지능형 전장인식을 위한 군 차량용 인공지능 가속기는 고성능, 저전력, 그리고 작은 크기를 요구한다. 이러한 요구사항을 위해 연산기와 메모리 개수의 변화를 둔 여러가지 인공지능 가속기 구성에 대한 성능 및 전력 평가와 분석을 진행하였다. 분석한 결과는 지능형 전장인식을 위한 군 차량용 인공지능 가속기의 요구사항에 적합한 가속기 시스템 구성을 보여준다.
