Thermodynamic properties of illite, smectite and beidellite by calorimetric methods: Enthalpies of formation, heat capacities, entropies and Gibbs free energies of formation
Hélène Gailhanou,Philippe Blanc,J. Rogez,Georges Mikaelian,Hitoshi Kawaji,Juan Olives,Marc Amouric,Renaud Denoyel,Sandrine Bourrelly,Valérie Montouillout,Philippe Vieillard,Claire I. Fialips,Nicolas Michau,Eric C. Gaucher +13 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the thermodynamic properties of aluminous 2:1 clay minerals were acquired at 1.013 bars and at temperatures between 5 and 500 K using various calorimetric methods.
Journal ArticleDOI
Thermodynamic properties of anhydrous smectite MX-80, illite IMt-2 and mixed-layer illite–smectite ISCz-1 as determined by calorimetric methods. Part I: Heat capacities, heat contents and entropies
Hélène Gailhanou,Hélène Gailhanou,J.C. van Miltenburg,J. Rogez,Juan Olives,Marc Amouric,Eric C. Gaucher,Philippe Blanc +7 more
TL;DR: In this article, the heat capacities of the anhydrous international reference clay minerals, smectite MX-80, illite IMt-2 and mixed-layer illite-smectite ISCz-1, were measured by low temperature adiabatic calorimetry and differential scanning, from 6 to 520 K (at 1 bar).
Journal ArticleDOI
Transformation Mechanisms and Interstratification in Conversion of Smectite to Kaolinite: An HRTEM Study
Marc Amouric,Juan Olives +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the transformation of smectite into kaolinite was studied in samples belonging to the Argiles Plastiques formation of the Paris basin by high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM).
Journal ArticleDOI
XRD and HRTEM characterization of pyrophyllite from Morocco and its possible applications
TL;DR: In this article, pyrophyllite and mica-like are homogeneous phases, with respective compositions Si4(Al 1.92Mg0.75)(Al1.25Al 0.12)O10(OH)2 and K0.85(Si3.1Mg 0.9Mg
Journal ArticleDOI
Illitization of smectite as seen by high-resolution transmission electron microscopy
Marc Amouric,Juan Olives +1 more
TL;DR: In this article, high-resolution transmission electron microscopy observations have been performed on a sample which represents an early stage of the transformation of smectite into illite (by hydrothermal alteration).
