The organic light emitting display apparatus includes: a substrate; an organic light emitting device on the substrate to display an image; a sealing member on the organic light emitting device; a semitransparent film on a surface of the sealing member facing away from the organic light emitting device to transmit a portion of external light and to reflect another portion of the external light; a passivation film on the semitransparent film to protect the semitransparent film; and a transmissive black layer between the sealing member and the organic light emitting device to increase contrast, wherein the semitransparent film has a refractive index greater than that of the passivation film.

Two kinds of the OLEDs are provided. One is an OLED comprising a region of LE layer sandwiched between the upper and lower electrodes is formed on a power line of TFT for driving the pixel. Another comprises a region of the LE layer formed on an electrode of capacitor connected to the TFTs to control the light-emitting element. Accordingly, without forming a flattening layer on the light-emitting layer, there is no electric short circuit between the lower electrode and the upper electrode.

An apparatus and method for driving a liquid crystal display device are disclosed. The apparatus includes a liquid crystal panel with pixels defined by data and gate lines. A gate driver provides different gate pulses to the odd-column pixels than to the even-column pixels. The gate pulses have different voltages and/or widths. Data drivers provide data voltages having a positive or negative polarity to the data lines. A timing controller controls the gate and data drivers and supplies gate clock pulses that have different voltages and/or widths to the gate driver.
