Journal ArticleDOI

Interaction between two synthetic pyrethroids and the spread of two non-persistent viruses in cowpea

TL;DR: Neither deltamethrin nor lambda-cyhalothrin prevented the initial introduction of virus into the cowpea crop and, when incoming alate incidence was high, virus incidence was higher in the sprayed than in the unsprayed plots.
Journal ArticleDOI

Cowpea seed treatment with carbosulfan: potential for control of seedling pests

TL;DR: The ease of application and high dermal LD 50 (> 2000 mg/kg rabbit) make Marshal 25 ST a very attractive option for use by small-scale farmers as a component of an integrated pest management strategy in locations where these pests are important and adequate levels of genetic resistance are not available.
Journal ArticleDOI

The ability of Aphis craccivora, A. gossypii and A. citricola to transmit single and mixed viruses to cowpeas.

TL;DR: Investigating the ability of populations of adult apterous Aphis craccivora, A. gossypii and A. citricola to transmit the cowpea aphid-borne mosaic virus (CAMV) and cucumber mosaicirus (CMV) toCowpea was investigated, suggesting thatcowpea plants were more prone to infection by CAMV when already infected by CMV.
