Method of treating intervertebral discs using optical energy and optical temperature feeback

TL;DR: In this article, a method of controllably heating the annulus of an intervertebral disc is presented, which comprises the steps of forming an access channel through an annulus, inserting a light source into the intervertenbral disc, activating the light source to emit diffuse light, optically measuring the temperature of tissue near the light sources, and modifying the intensity of the light emitted from the source according to the measured temperature.

Method of treating intervertebral discs by inserting a diffuser directly into the annulus

TL;DR: In this paper, a method of controllably heating the annulus of an intervertebral disc is presented, which comprises the steps of forming an access channel through an annulus, inserting a light-emitting diffuser, and activating the light emitting diffuser to emit diffuse light while maintaining the light emitter within the access channel.
Journal ArticleDOI

A novel narrow profile articulating powered vascular stapler provides superior access and haemostasis equivalent to conventional devices

TL;DR: The new ECHELON FLEX™ powered vascular stapler with four rows of staples provides haemostasis equivalent to six-row staplers and demonstrated improved access capability for pulmonary vessel procedures.
Journal ArticleDOI

Reproducible, Repeatable and Clinically-relevant Hemostasis Scoring

TL;DR: A 5-point Likert-type scale to evaluate intra-operative bleeding in stapling applications and reproducibility and repeatability of the scale among internal appraisers, as well as surgeons that viewed video segments ofStapling in pig that displayed varying levels of hemostasis.
Journal ArticleDOI

Endometriosis model development swine.

TL;DR: The authors describe the development of a swine model of endometriosis that allows researchers to evaluate laparoscopic techniques and instruments for diagnosing and treating the condition.
