This study used peer-reviewed published research re ports to teach a seminar on learning and memory to first-semester college students. Comp lete reports (not summaries, reviews, or news reports) were re-written by this aut hor to be more “student friendly” to college freshmen. These adapted published research reports (APRRs) retained original structure and key data but omitted references and t gential data while providing explanatory notes. Rather than lecturing the students about the papers , the approach was to engage students directly in scientific thinking by requiring them t o work first individually and then as analysis teams to conduct a simulated peer review o f the APRRs. To prod higher-level analysis, students were required to develop insight ful answers to 21 scaffolding questions. All questions required critical thinking, an d seven specifically called for creative responses. The questions prompted the students to t hink deeply about alternative approaches for testing, organizing and presenting res ults, meaning of the results, and the broader implications of the research. An end-of-course survey revealed that students rega rd d the experience positively. Most believed they learned more than they would have fro m lectures, had more interest in the subject matter, were less intimidated by research r eports, grew in ability to comprehend research, and felt pride in realizing they could th ink at this level. This application of APRR seems to be a useful and e ngaging way to teach in a freshman seminar. Lessons learned include the need to provid e more advance explanation about the nature of research in the field and more professor feedback on the students’ simulated peer reviews. But, the results do lend support to t he claim of others that APRRs can teach the nature of scholarship better than textbooks.

In this paper, a method to detect the fault and the distance at which the fault has occurred is calculated. The fault location in the underground cable is a bit cumbersome process so to deal with such problem a method is given in this project. To determine the location of fault a series resistor is used and the voltage across this resistor is measured and then is sent to the microprocessor to calculate the distance at which the fault has occurred. This is a safe and cheap method for obtaining the fault location in an underground cable. This method also does not have a high power requirement and is portable too.

Underground Cable Fault Distance Locator

Penerangan jalan umum (PJU) digunakan untuk menerangi jalan, sehingga pengguna jalan mendukung kenyamanan dan keselamatan dimalam hari. Terdapat keterbatasan sistem pemeriksaan dan pelaporan kerusakaan lampu PJU. Artikel ini membahas penerapan teknologi Internet of Things (IoT) untuk memantau gangguan kerusakan pada lampu PJU. Metode yang digunakan dalam pengembangan sistem pemantauan tersebut yaitu, kajian literatur, analisis kebutuhan, perancangan, pembuatan dan pengujian. Sistem ini dilengkapi dengan sensor ZMPT101B, ACS 712, dan Modul WiFi ESP 8266-01. Sensor ZMPT101B digunakan untuk mengukur nilai tegangan PLN, sedangkan sensor ACS 712 merupakan sensor yang digunakan untuk mengukur arus pada lampu jalan.  ESP8266-01 merupakan modul wifi yang dapat terhubung langsung dengan WiFi dan membuat koneksi TCP/IP sehingga dapat mengirim data dari mikrokontroler Arduino Mega2560 ke internet. Sistem pemantauan lampu PJU ini kemudian dapat diakses menggunakan antarmuka ThingSpeak baik dengan ponsel maupun laptop. Hasil pengujian sensor tegangan menunjukan tingkat akurasi sebesar 96,7%, parameter tegangan dan arus lampu ditampilkan dalam bentuk grafik dan indikator. Hasil tersebut menunjukkan bahwa sistem dapat digunakan untuk memantau kondisi lampu PJU. Hal tersebut dapat dijadikan sebagai dasar pengembangan sistem selanjutnya berbasis sistem cerdas untuk mendukung lampu PJU sesuai SNI dan memiliki efisiensi energi.

Penerapan IoT untuk Sistem Pemantauan Lampu Penerangan Jalan Umum

Pada era teknologi dan otomasi industri saat ini banyak digunakan robot sebagai alat bantu yang dapat meringankan pekerjaan manusia, sehingga dibutuhkan robot yang memiliki sistem pengendalian yang baik agar pekerjaan yang dilakukan oleh robot tersebut dapat lebih optimal. Perkembangan sistem pengendalian pada robot saat ini cukup pesat seiring dengan kebutuhan manusia yang semakin beragam. Beberapa metode banyak diterapkan pada sistem pengendalian robot secara otomatis. Logika fuzzy merupakan metode yang banyak digunakan dalam navigasi gerak robot. Sehingga pada penelitian ini akan diterapkan metode logika fuzzy dengan tipe Sugeno sebagai sistem navigasi robot hexapod yang ditanamkan pada mikrokontroler Arduino mega dan digunakan lima buah sensor ultrasonik sebagai nilai inputan jarak, dan menggunakan servo motor controller 32 channel yang digunakan untuk mengontrol 18 servo untuk mengerakan robot baik maju, belok kanan, dan kiri dan juga membantu meringkas kabel yang terhubung kearduino, codingan motor servo yang mudah yang dimana hanya memanggil perintah serial ke arduino mega. Dalam hal ini logika fuzzy diterapkan untuk mengatur delay yang bisa mengatur speed robot hexapod ini ketika berhadapan  tembok dekat maka berjalan lambat dan jauh dari tembok maka berjalan cepat. Sehingga dapat menghindari halangan yang berada dengan baik.

Rancang bangun sistem navigasi robot hexapod 3 dof di ruangan labirin menggunakan metode fuzzy sugeno berbasis arduino

Kemajuan teknologi dalam bidang robotika pada saat ini sudah memasuki era modernisasi serta perkembangannya memasuki era baru dan sudah serba otomatis untuk sebuah pendidikan dan teknologi. Robot lengan pada dunia industri berpengaruh sangat besar, misalnya dapat membuat waktu lebih efisien dan dapat mengurangi biaya dimana yang sebelumnya harus membayar gaji karyawan. Berdasarkan hasil pengujian sinkronasi gerak antar robot lengan dan slider pengendali didapatkan hasil bahwa semakin besar nilai derajat pergesaran slider maka lebar pulsa sinyal PWM semakin melebar dan tegangan keluaran dari pin mikrokontroler Arduino Uno semakin besar dengan nilai rata – rata tegangan yang dihasilkan sebesar 115,03 mV. Robot dalam keadaan standby hanya membutuhkan daya sebesar 0,9 Watt dan saat beroperasi membutuhkan data sebesar 3,94 Watt. Pada motor servo ini, terdapat beberapa kekurangan, dimana salah satunya adalah tidak akuratnya dalam melakukan pengukuran sudut, dapat dihitung bahwa selisihnya sebesar 13% atau sejauh 7,3 derajat.

At present, public street lighting system control at most of the urban is only by conventional control, a control switch set in each of the streets lamps which are ineffective in power consumption and a excess of human resources, and unwieldly to operate the street light opening and closing time. Several methods tend to overcome these problems, such as a time-control method that is, from time to time opening and closing control, and time-optical-control method that is, from time to time with light intensity control. However, these methods also face other problems because of un-integrated systems, such as monitoring and maintenance of lamps condition and power consumption. This paper is trying to design an integratif control and monitoring of the system based on the Internet of Things (IoT) system to solve the problems. A number of sensors, such as PZEM-004T and Light Dependent Resistor (LDR), Arduino Mega 2560 microprocessor system, relays, and a software Graphical User Interface (GUI), are utilized in this research. An Ethernet system with ThingSpeak application is used for telecommunication between the public street lighting system with a monitoring system. Several experiments had been performed that proved the proposed system able to maintain the public street lighting system more satisfaction, low maintenance system, and accurate.

The headway of manipulator robots makes the development of a hexapod quite fast. Unfortunately, a hexapod is unstable to moving in a regular movement with some values added to programming algorithms. Various techniques implemented yet to the algorithms, like entering the degree values of each servo. However, to simplify the implementation of the algorithms, need some equations. This paper offered a hexapod control system based on Arduino that using Denavit-Hartenberg parameters to produce the equations. Various experiments have performed. Based on the experiments the offered system able to simplify the programming algorithms.

Analysis Of Kinematic For Legs Of A Hexapod Using Denavit-hartenberg Convention

Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) is a heterogeneous type of network consisting of scattered sensor nodes and working together for data collection, processing, and transmission functions[1], [2]. Because WSN is widely used in vital matters, aspects of its security must also be considered. There are many types of attacks that might be carried out to disrupt WSN networks. The methods of attack that exist in WSN include jamming attack, tampering, Sybil attack, wormhole attack, hello flood attack, and, blackhole attack[3]. Blackhole attacks are one of the most dangerous attacks on WSN networks. Enhanced Check Agent method is designed to detect black hole attacks by sending a checking agent to record nodes that are considered black okay. The implementation will be tested right on a wireless sensor network using ZigBee technology. Network topology uses a mesh where each node can have more than one routing table[4]. The Enhanced Check Agent method can increase throughput to 100 percent.

Saat ini manipulator robot sudah sangat umum digunakan untuk berbagai macam aplikasi robot. Sehingga tidak sedikit penelitian yang membahas mengenai manipulator robot dengan 2, 3 dan lebih derajat kebebasan. Manipulator robot ini bisa digunakan untuk kaki sebuah robot berkaki, misalnya pada robot berkaki enam. Dengan menggunakan analisis kinematika pada manipulator robot dapat menentukan arah dan gerakan kakinya untuk berjalan. Penelitian ini mengambil topik mengenai kinematika pada robot manipulator dengan tiga derajat kebebasan yang digunakan sebagai kaki robot berkaki enam sebagai objek penelitian, dianalisis dan mempelajari kinematika balik dan maju. Analisis kinematik adalah dasar dari studi robot manipulator. Melalui parameter Denavit Hartenberg, persamaan kinematik balik dan maju dari kaki robot secara mekanis dapat dibentuk melalui hubungan matematis antara end-efector (titik akhir efektor) dan sudut sendi. MATLAB dan RoboAnalyzer merupakan software yang kemudian digunakan untuk membuktikan perrsamaan kinematik tersebut dan kemudian mengimplementasikan gerakan tripod. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan analisis kinematik yang diperkenalkan Denavit Hartenberg untuk robot manipulator dengan 3 derajat kebebasan menghasilkan persamaan kinematik. Persamaan kinematic tersebut tersiri dari kinematic balik dan maju. Persamaan tersebut kemudian diverifikasi menggunakan MATLAB dan RoboAnalyzer menunjukkan hasil matriks yang sama.
