Basic sites and reducing sites of calcium oxide and their catalytic activities

TL;DR: In this article, the amounts of basic and reducing sites of calcium oxides prepared by heat-treating the hydroxide at various temperatures were measured, respectively, by titration with benzoic acid, using bromothymol blue, etc., as indicators and by observing ESR, spectra or visible reflectance spectra of adsorbed nitrobenzene or m-dinitron benzene.
Journal ArticleDOI

ESR evidence for main‐chain scission produced by mechanical fracture of polymers at low temperature

TL;DR: In this article, it has been demonstrated that microscopic scission of polyethylene chains is caused by macroscopic destruction of polymeric material, and the critical molecular size for mechanical rupture of polymethylene chains was experimentally determined to be a degree of polymerization between 70 and 100.
Journal ArticleDOI

Direct evidence of main-chain scissions induced by ultrasonic irradiation of benzene solutions of polymers

TL;DR: In this article, the ESR spectra of two spin adducts arising from pairs of radicals formed by the main-chain scission of polymers were successfully observed in a benzene solution of poly-(methyl methacrylate), poly(vinyl acetate), and polystyrene.
Journal ArticleDOI

ESR study of V2O5 catalyst on carriers

TL;DR: In this paper, the ESR spectrum of V2O5 catalyst on two different carriers, Neobead and Alundum, was analyzed and it was concluded that the ground state of V4+ was the dxy orbital.
