900-m high gas plumes rising from marine sediments containing structure II hydrates at Vestnesa Ridge, offshore W-Svalbard
TL;DR: Bünz et al. as discussed by the authors studied an arctic sediment drift in ∼ 1200 m water depth at Vestnesa Ridge, offshore western Svalbard, where the ridge is spotted with pockmarks that range in size from a few meters to hundreds of meters in diameter and centimeters to tens of meters of height.
Gas Hydrates on the Norway - Barents Sea - Svalbard margin (GANS); an overview and preliminary results

CAGE14-5 Cruise Report: Fram Strait – NW Svalbard
Jürgen Mienert,Giuliana Panieri,Friederike Gründger,Wei-Li Hong,Joel Johnson,Andreia Plaza-Faverola,P. Jansson,Alexey Portnov,Kate Alyse Waghorn +8 more
TL;DR: The CAGE 14-5 cruise as mentioned in this paper allowed to study the gas release from gas hydrated sub-seabed environments at the continental margin off NW and N-Svalbard and the transport and distribution of methane within the water column.
Journal ArticleDOI
Annual Report 2015
TL;DR: The Arctic contains large reservoirs of these hydrates, and they can melt in increasing tempo due to global warming as mentioned in this paper , which could cause more methane to be released from the ocean floor.
Journal ArticleDOI
CAGE15-6 Cruise Report: Arctic gas hydrate studies
Jürgen Mienert,Wei-Li Hong,P. Jansson,Kate Alyse Waghorn,Malin Waage,Sunny Singhroha,Giacomo Osti,Haoyi Yao,Steinar Iversen,Bjørn R. Olsen,Karianne Heimdal,Suchada Yaiying Krokmyrdal,R Romeyn,Jack Triest,Roberto Grilli +14 more
TL;DR: RV Helmer Hanssen as discussed by the authors explored potential gas hydrate charged sub-seabed environments and gas release zones at Storfjordrenna, Vestnesa and Svyatogor Ridge, Yermak Plateau, Sofia Basin and west of Prins Karls Foreland.
