Journal ArticleDOI
Very thin strut biodegradable polymer everolimus-eluting and sirolimus-eluting stents versus durable polymer zotarolimus-eluting stents in allcomers with coronary artery disease (BIO-RESORT): a three-arm, randomised, non-inferiority trial
Clemens von Birgelen,Clemens von Birgelen,Marlies M. Kok,Liefke C. van der Heijden,Peter W. Danse,Carl E. Schotborgh,Martijn Scholte,R. Melvyn Tjon Joe Gin,Samer Somi,K.G. van Houwelingen,Martin G. Stoel,Frits H.A.F. de Man,J. (Hans) W. Louwerenburg,Marc Hartmann,Paolo Zocca,Gerard C.M. Linssen,Job van der Palen,Job van der Palen,Carine J.M. Doggen,Marije M. Löwik +19 more
TL;DR: This large-scale, investigator-initiated, multicentre, assessor and patient blinded, three-arm, randomised, BIO-RESORT non-inferiority trial investigated in allcomers the safety and efficacy of three stents eluting either everolimus, sirolimus, or zotarlimus, of which the biodegradable polymer everolitus-eluting stent was never before assessed.
Journal ArticleDOI
The sleep apnoea syndromes.
TL;DR: The objective of this review is to draw attention to the relationship of sleep apnoea syndromes with symptoms and signs of cardiovascular dysfunction.
Journal ArticleDOI
Diagnostic and therapeutic approach of congenital solitary coronary artery fistulas in adults: Dutch case series and review of literature
Salah A.M. Saïd,Rogier Lg Nijhuis,J. W. op den Akker,G. P. Kimman,K.G. van Houwelingen,D. Gerrits,A. B. Huisman,Riemer H. J. A. Slart,D. M. Nicastia,E. M. Koomen,A. C. Tans,N. Y. Y. Al-Windy,U. Sonker,T. Slagboom,A. C. B. Pronk +14 more
TL;DR: Several diagnostic imaging techniques are available for assessment of the anatomical and functional characteristics of CAFs, and high success rates were found in both treatment groups.
Journal ArticleDOI
Antithrombotic therapy in patients undergoing TAVI: an overview of Dutch hospitals.
Vincent J. Nijenhuis,Pieter R. Stella,J. Baan,B R G Brueren,P. de Jaegere,P. den Heijer,Sjoerd H. Hofma,Peter C. Kievit,Ton Slagboom,A. F. M. van den Heuvel,F. van der Kley,L. A. F. M. van Garsse,K.G. van Houwelingen,A.W.J. van't Hof,J. M. ten Berg +14 more
TL;DR: The antithrombotic policy for patients undergoing TAVI is highly variable in the Netherlands and as a standardised regimen might further reduce haemorrhagic complications, large randomised clinical trials may help to establish the most appropriate approach.
Journal ArticleDOI
Comparison of frequency of periprocedural myocardial infarction in patients with and without diabetes mellitus to those with previously unknown but elevated glycated hemoglobin levels (from the TWENTE Trial).
Kenneth Tandjung,K.G. van Houwelingen,Hanneke Jansen,Hanneke Jansen,Mounir W.Z. Basalus,Hanim Sen,Marije M. Löwik,Martin G. Stoel,J. (Hans) W. Louwerenburg,F.H.A.F. De Man,Gerard C.M. Linssen,Rogier Lg Nijhuis,Mark B. Nienhuis,van der Jacobus Palen,van der Jacobus Palen,Ronald P. Stolk,C. von Birgelen,C. von Birgelen +17 more
TL;DR: In patients without a history of diabetes mellitus, increased levels of glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) are associated with higher cardiovascular risk, and undetected diabetics were shown to have an increased risk of PMI.
