TL;DR: In this paper, the third full-scale development dipole magnet for the Superconducting Super Collider (SSC) and from a retest of a 4.5m model magnet of the same design mounted in an SSC cryostat are presented.
Journal ArticleDOI
Fermilab doubler magnet design and fabrication techniques
TL;DR: In this paper, the Fermilab Doubler magnets have benefited from a development effort to upgrade the performance of the superconducting magnets and the results of this effort are discussed.
Journal ArticleDOI
The Tevatron BO Low Beta System
TL;DR: In this article, a low beta insertion has been installed at the BO straight section of the Tevatron, the location of the Collider Detector Facility, with four superconducting quadrupole doublets, and the engineering design and performance of this system exclusive of beam behavior is described including the magnets and their power supply, quench protection and cryogenic subsystems.
Proceedings ArticleDOI
Quench performance of superconducting quadrupole magnets for the new Fermilab low beta insertion
S.A. Gourlay,J.A. Carson,R.W. Hanft,T.S. Jaffery,K. Koepke,M.J. Lamm,P. M. Mantsch,A.D. McInturff,A. Mokhtarani,D.F. Orris,T.J. Peterson +10 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a two-shell, cos2 theta coil geometry with a 7.6-cm aperture was used for the Tevatron D0/B0 low beta insertion.
Journal ArticleDOI

TL;DR: In this paper, the first full length prototype SSC dipole magnet was tested and the average body field strength was measured to be 10.283 G/A with point to point variations on the order of one part in 1000.
