The Multiturn Charge Exchange Injection System for the Fermilab Booster Accelerator
Carlos Hojvat,Charles M. Ankenbrandt,B.C. Brown,D. F. Cosgrove,J. Garvey,R. P. Johnson,M. Joy,J. Lackey,K. Meisner,T. Schmitz,L. Teng,R. C. Webber +11 more
TL;DR: The Fermilab Booster has operated with H-multiturn charge exchange injection since 1978 as mentioned in this paper, and a record number of protons per Booster cycle has been injected and accelerated to 8 GeV.
Journal ArticleDOI
Time variations of fields in superconducting magnets and their effects on accelerators
D.A. Herrup,M.J. Syphers,D.E. Johnson,R.P. Johnson,A.V. Tollestrup,R.W. Hanft,B.C. Brown,M.J. Lamm,M. Kuchnir,A.D. McInturff +9 more
TL;DR: The time dependence of magnetic fields in the superconducting magnets of the Fermilab Tevatron is discussed in this paper, where it is shown that small but important changes in the magnetic fields occur with (ln t) time dependencies.
Journal ArticleDOI
Studies of time dependence of fields in Tevatron superconducting dipole magnets
TL;DR: In this paper, the time variation in the magnetic field of a model Tevatron dipole magnet at constant excitation current has been studied and it has been observed that variations in symmetry allowed harmonic components over long time ranges show a log t behavior indicative of "flux creep".
Journal ArticleDOI
Tests of full scale SSC R&D dipole magnets
James Strait,B.C. Brown,R.W. Hanft,M. Kuchnir,M.J. Lamm,R. Lundy,Paul M. Mantsch,P.O. Mazur,A.D. McInturff,J.R. Orr,J.G. Cottingham,P. Dahl,G. Ganetis,M. Gerber,A.K. Ghosh,C. Goodzeit,A. Greene,J. Herrera,S.A. Kahn,E. Kelly,G.H. Morgan,A. Prodell,W. B. Sampson,W. Schneider,R. P. Shutt,P.A. Thompson,P. Wanderer,E. H. Willen,S. Caspi,William S. Gilbert,R. Meuser,C. Peters,J. Rechen,R. Royer,R. Scanlan,C. Taylor,J. Zbasnik,M. Chapman,A. Devred,J. Kaugerts,J. Peoples,J. C. Tompkins,R. Schermer +42 more
TL;DR: In this paper, four full-scale SSC (Superconducting Super Collider) research and development dipole magnets, incorporating successive mechanical design improvements, have been quench-tested and three of the magnets are heavily instrumented with sensors to measure their mechanical behavior and verify the effectiveness of the mechanical improvements.
Book ChapterDOI

A. Devred,M. Chapman,J. Cortella,A. Desportes,J. Kaugerts,T. Kirk,K. Mirk,R. Schermer,J. C. Tompkins,J. Turner,J.G. Cottingham,P. Dahl,M. Garber,G. Ganetis,A.K. Ghosh,C. Goodzeit,A. Greene,J. Herrera,S.A. Kahn,E. Kelly,G.H. Morgan,A. Prodell,E.P. Rohrer,W. B. Sampson,R. P. Shutt,P.A. Thompson,P. Wanderer,E. H. Willen,M. Bleadon,B.C. Brown,R.W. Hanft,M. Kuchnir,M.J. Lamm,Paul M. Mantsch,Peter Mazur,D.F. Orris,J. Peoples,James Strait,G. Tool,Shlomo Caspi,W.S. Gilbert,R. Meuser,C. Peters,J. Rechen,J. Royet,R.M. Scanlan,C.E. Taylor,J. Zbasnik +47 more
TL;DR: In this article, the quench propagation velocity on the turn where quench occurs is calculated and verified by reiterating the analysis on adjacent turns, and the velocity value appears to be higher than previously measured.
