What is subjective global assessment of nutritional status

TL;DR: It is concluded that SGA can easily be taught to a variety of clinicians (residents, nurses), and that this technique is reproducible.
Journal ArticleDOI

Evaluating the accuracy of nutritional assessment techniques applied to hospitalized patients: methodology and comparisons.

TL;DR: It is found that combining the five objective measurements with SGA into a single index did not increase the discriminatory (or predictive) power over that of SGA alone in a clinically significant way, and it is concluded that a larger study comparing these approaches should be undertaken to confirm these findings and to develop methods which improve the predictive properties of S GA.
Journal ArticleDOI

Total parenteral nutrition at home for 23 months, without complication, and with good rehabilitation. A study of technical and metabolic features.

TL;DR: In this paper, the experience of the first patient with permanent total parenteral nutrition, currently extending to 32 months, the last 23 months being spent at home, is described.
Journal ArticleDOI

Microfilament dysfunction as a possible cause of intrahepatic cholestasis.

TL;DR: It is proposed that under normal circumstances, the microfilaments maintain the canaliculi in a contracted or partly contracted state, which would provide tone to the canalicular system which would tend to reduce stagnation and facilitate the flow of bile.
Journal ArticleDOI

Breath pentane analysis as an index of lipid peroxidation: a functional test of vitamin E status.

TL;DR: It is concluded that breath pentane output is a sensitive, noninvasive, functional test for assessing vitamin E status and significantly decreased after a 10-d supplementation with vitamin E in five normal subjects.
