Journal ArticleDOI
Successful outcome of human metapneumovirus (hMPV) pneumonia in a lung transplant recipient treated with intravenous ribavirin.
K. Raza,Sameer B. Ismailjee,Maria Crespo,Sean M. Studer,Sonali K. Sanghavi,David L. Paterson,Eun J. Kwak,Charles R. Rinaldo,Joseph M. Pilewski,Kenneth R. McCurry,Shahid Husain +10 more
TL;DR: A case of h MPV pneumonia in a lung transplant recipient presenting with respiratory failure and sepsis syndrome is reported, and hMPV was diagnosed by polymerase chain reaction, and treated with intravenous ribavirin with a successful outcome.
Journal ArticleDOI
Experience with immune monitoring in lung transplant recipients: correlation of low immune function with infection.
Shahid Husain,K. Raza,Joseph M. Pilewski,Diana Zaldonis,Maria Crespo,Y. Toyoda,Kathleen A. Shutt,Kathy Spichty,Carolyn Bentlejewski,Diana L. Pakstis,M.E. Carey,Kenneth R. McCurry,Adriana Zeevi +12 more
TL;DR: Cylex ImmuKnow assay monitoring has the potential to identify the patients atrisk of developing infection and those colonized with fungus that are at risk of developing disease.
Journal ArticleDOI
Recovery of Functional Memory T Cells in Lung Transplant Recipients Following Induction Therapy with Alemtuzumab
A. Zeevi,Shahid Husain,Kathy Spichty,K. Raza,Julie B. Woodcock,Diana Zaldonis,L. M. Carruth,Richard Kowalski,J. Britz,Kenneth R. McCurry +9 more
TL;DR: The results show that profound depletion of T cells induced by alemtuzumab spares the functional subset of CMV‐specific memory T cells, and suggests that CMV R– patients predepletion may require a prolonged period of prophylaxis.
Journal ArticleDOI
66: Risk of pulmonary aspergillosis after bronchial stent placement in lung transplant (LTx) recipients
Journal ArticleDOI
Frailty Is Associated With Pre-Operative Delisting and Death in Lung Transplant Candidates
Jonathan P. Singer,Joshua M. Diamond,Cynthia J. Gries,J. McDonnough,Paul D. Blanc,Rupal J. Shah,M.Y. Dean,B. Hersch,J. Dolan,S. Arcasoy,John R. Greenland,N. Smith,S.J. Patterson,L. Shah,J.A. Christie,D Lederer +29 more
TL;DR: It is confirmed that the new Lung Transplantation allocation rules implemented in France since 2007 (HELT) allows a rapid organ procurement for patients at imminent risk of death, and is feasible with an acceptable survival.
