Compositionally tunable photoluminescence emission in Cu2ZnSn(S(1-x)Se(x))4 nanocrystals.

Towards environmentally benign approaches for the synthesis of CZTSSe nanocrystals by a hot injection method: a status review.

ZnO/CdS/Cu2ZnSnS4 p–n heterostructure nanorod arrays were fabricated through a novel solution-based method using ZnO nanorod arrays as the template. Typical ZnO/CdS/Cu2ZnSnS4 heterostructure nanorod arrays consist of ZnO/CdS core/sheath nanorods and Cu2ZnSnS4 nanocrystallines grown on the primary ZnO/CdS core/sheath nanorods. In the ZnO/CdS/Cu2ZnSnS4 heterostructure nanorods arrays, ZnO core and CdS sheath are single crystalline, while Cu2ZnSnS4 nanoparticles are polycrystalline. The possible formation mechanism of ZnO/CdS/Cu2ZnSnS4 heterostructure nanorod arrays is also discussed in detail. The ZnO/CdS/Cu2ZnSnS4 heterostructure nanorod arrays possess a broad and enhanced optical absorption from the ultraviolet to the near-infrared region. A good rectification characteristic is observed in the I–V curve of ZnO/CdS/Cu2ZnSnS4 nanorod, which confirms that the ZnO/CdS/Cu2ZnSnS4 nanorod is a p–n heterostructure. Micro-Raman spectroscopy was used to investigate the vibrating properties of ZnO/CdS/Cu2ZnSnS4 heterostructure nanorod arrays. The results indicate that the ZnO/CdS/Cu2ZnSnS4 p–n heterostructure nanorod arrays may shed light on new opportunities for nanoscale optoelectronic devices.

Cu2ZnSnSxSe4-x nanocrystallines have been synthesized via solvothermal route in ethylenediamine using CuCl, ZnCl2, SnCl4·5H2O, Se, and S powders as reaction reagents. The as-synthesized products were characterized by X-ray powder diffraction, transmission electron microscopy, and high-resolution transmission electron microscopy. The results confirm that the Cu2ZnSnSxSe4-x (0≤x ≤4) is a complete solid solution with single phase and uniform composition. The solid solutions Cu2ZnSnSxSe4-x (0< x <4) are single crystalline nanoplates with the diameter of 20–50 nm. Raman spectra of the Cu2ZnSnSxSe4-x nanocrystallines revealed that vibrating modes were modulated by x-values. Photoluminescence spectra of the as-prepared Cu2ZnSnSxSe4-x nanocrystallines showed that one wide emission band with peak position around 1.40 eV which slightly changed with x-values.

Fabrication and Characterization of Cu$_{2}$ZnSnS$_{x}$Se$_{4-x}$ Solid Solution Nanocrystallines

Upgrading of atmospheric CO2 into high‐value‐added acetate using renewable electricity via electrocatalysis solely remains a great challenge. Here, inspired by microbial synthesis via biocatalysts, we present a coupled system to produce acetate from CO2 by bridging inorganic electrocatalysis with microbial synthesis through formate intermediates. A 3D Bi2O3@CF integrated electrode with an ice‐sugar gourd shape was fabricated via a straightforward hydrothermal synthesis strategy, wherein Bi2O3 microspheres were decorated on carbon fibers. This ice‐sugar gourd‐shaped architecture endows electrodes with multiple structural advantages, including synergistic contribution, high mass transport capability, high structural stability, and large surface area. Consequently, the resultant Bi2O3@CF exhibited a maximum Faradic efficiency of 92.4% at −1.23 V versus Ag/AgCl for formate generation in 0.5 M KHCO3, exceeding that of Bi2O3/CF prepared using a conventional electrode preparation strategy. Benefiting from the high formate selectivity, unique architecture, and good biocompatibility, the Bi2O3@CF electrode attached with enriched CO2‐fixing electroautotrophs served as a biocathode. As a result, a considerable acetate yield rate of 0.269 ± 0.009 g L−1 day−1 (a total acetate yield of 3.77 ± 0.12 g L−1 during 14‐day operation) was achieved in the electrochemical–microbial system equipped with Bi2O3@CF.
