You Invaded my Tracking Space! Using Augmented Virtuality for Spotting Passersby in Room-Scale Virtual Reality

TL;DR: Three different ways to represent physical passersby in a Virtual Environment using Augmented Virtuality are proposed and evaluated and it is shown that while an Image Overlay and a 3D-Model are the fastest representations to spot passersby, the 3d-Model and the Pointcloud representations were the most accurate.
Proceedings ArticleDOI

”I don’t know how to protect myself”: Understanding Privacy Perceptions Resulting from the Presence of Bystanders in Smart Environments

TL;DR: Demand for scalable solutions that address the tension that arises between the increasing discreetness of IoT devices, their increase in numbers and the requirement to preserve the self-determination of owners and bystanders at the same time are shown.
Proceedings ArticleDOI

VRSketchPen: Unconstrained Haptic Assistance for Sketching in Virtual 3D Environments

TL;DR: The findings show that usage of pneumatic, vibrotactile and their combination significantly improves 2D shape accuracy and leads to diminished depth errors for flat and curved surfaces.
Proceedings ArticleDOI

LookUnlock: Using Spatial-Targets for User-Authentication on HMDs

TL;DR: This work presents LookUnlock, an authentication technique for HMDs that uses passwords that are composed of spatial and virtual targets that can be efficiently used by people and is resistant to shoulder-surfing attacks.
Journal ArticleDOI

Assessing Users’ Privacy and Security Concerns of Smart Home Technologies

TL;DR: Recommendations for addressing user concerns and for supporting developers in designing user-centered Smart Home technologies are concluded.
