Detection of Calcified and Noncalcified Coronary Atherosclerotic Plaque by Contrast-Enhanced, Submillimeter Multidetector Spiral Computed Tomography A Segment-Based Comparison With Intravascular Ultrasound
Stephan Achenbach,Fabian Moselewski,Dieter Ropers,Maros Ferencik,Udo Hoffmann,Briain D. MacNeill,Karsten Pohle,Ulrich Baum,Katharina Anders,Ik-Kyung Jang,Werner G. Daniel,Thomas J. Brady +11 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigated the ability of multidetector spiral computed tomography (MDCT) to detect atherosclerotic plaque in nonstenotic coronary arteries.
Journal ArticleDOI
Progression of aortic valve calcification: association with coronary atherosclerosis and cardiovascular risk factors.
Karsten Pohle,Ralph Mäffert,Dieter Ropers,Werner Moshage,Nicolaos Stilianakis,Werner G. Daniel,Stephan Achenbach +6 more
TL;DR: A strong influence of LDL cholesterol level on the progression of AVC and CC is observed, suggesting that lipid-lowering therapy may decrease the progressionof aortic valve calcification.
Journal ArticleDOI
assessment of coronary remodeling in stenotic and nonstenotic coronary atherosclerotic lesions by multidetector spiral computed tomography
Stephan Achenbach,Dieter Ropers,Udo Hoffmann,Briain D. MacNeill,Ulrich Baum,Karsten Pohle,Thomas J. Brady,Eugene Pomerantsev,Josef Ludwig,Frank A. Flachskampf,Stephan Wicky,Ik-Kyung Jang,Werner G. Daniel +12 more
TL;DR: Investigation of whether contrast-enhanced multidetector spiral CT permits assessment of remodeling in coronary atherosclerotic lesions finds that this ability to assess remodeling may be tolerated in selected data sets of sufficient quality.
Journal ArticleDOI
Characterization of non-calcified coronary atherosclerotic plaque by multi-detector row CT: comparison to IVUS.
Karsten Pohle,Stephan Achenbach,Stephan Achenbach,Briain D. MacNeill,Dieter Ropers,Maros Ferencik,Fabian Moselewski,Udo Hoffmann,Thomas J. Brady,Ik-Kyung Jang,Werner G. Daniel +10 more
TL;DR: Substantial overlap of attenuation values between plaque types is observed so that the differentiation of "vulnerable" and "stable" plaques based on their CT attenuation is doubtful.
Journal ArticleDOI
Comparison of measurement of cross-sectional coronary atherosclerotic plaque and vessel areas by 16-slice multidetector computed tomography versus intravascular ultrasound
Fabian Moselewski,Dieter Ropers,Karsten Pohle,Udo Hoffmann,Maros Ferencik,Raymond Chan,Ricardo C. Cury,Suhny Abbara,Ik-Kyung Jang,Thomas J. Brady,Werner G. Daniel,Stephan Achenbach,Stephan Achenbach +12 more
TL;DR: In 26 patients, 16-slice multidetector computed tomography (MDCT) with 0.75-mm collimation and intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) of 1 coronary artery were performed, and the mean luminal area and mean plaque area were slightly but significantly overestimated with MDCT.
