Journal ArticleDOI

Exhaustion is associated with reduced habituation of free cortisol responses to repeated acute psychosocial stress.

TL;DR: It is hypothesized that impaired habituation to repeated exposure to the same stressor could reflect a state of increased vulnerability for allostatic load, and absence of normal habituation might be one potential mechanism how exhaustion relates to increased disease vulnerability.
Journal ArticleDOI

The effect of natural habituation on coagulation responses to acute mental stress and recovery in men.

TL;DR: An incapacity of the coagulation system to adapt to stress repeats is perhaps a consequence of evolution, but might also contribute to increased coronary risk in some individuals, particularly in those with cardiovascular diseases.
Journal ArticleDOI

Relationship between hemoconcentration and blood coagulation responses to acute mental stress.

TL;DR: The Trier Social Stress Test corroborated significant changes in coagulation measures in response to acute mental stress compatible, with the notion that stress may elicit a hypercoagulable state, however, stress hemoconcentration appears not to explain a substantial proportion inCoagulation changes elicited by acutemental stress.
Journal ArticleDOI

The effect of repeated acute mental stress on habituation and recovery responses in hemoconcentration and blood cells in healthy men.

TL;DR: The magnitude of changes in hemoconcentration and blood cells during acute mental stress and recovery failed to habituate to stress repeats and, in part, were sustained up to 105 min.
