Journal ArticleDOI

Cytotoxic, hepatoprotective and free radical scavenging effects of propolis from Brazil, Peru, the Netherlands and China.

TL;DR: The result of hepatoprotective activity of Brazilian propolis on D-galactosamine (D-GalN)/tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-alpha)-induced cell death in primary cultured mouse hepatocytes were found in accordance with the grade set up by beekeepers in Brazil.
Journal ArticleDOI

Hepatoprotective and anti-Helicobacter pylori activities of constituents from Brazilian propolis.

TL;DR: The result indicated that hepatoprotective activity of alcoholic extract of tropical Brazilian propolis is mainly due to phenolic compounds including flavonoids, and the labdane-type diterpenes and some of the prenylated phenolics possessed antibacterial activity against Helicobacter pylori.
Journal ArticleDOI

Four Di-O-caffeoyl Quinic Acid Derivatives from Propolis. Potent Hepatoprotective Activity in Experimental Liver Injury Models

TL;DR: The water extract of propolis showed a strong hepatoprotective activity against CCl4-toxicity in rats and D-galactosamine (GalN)/lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced liver injury in mice and four dicaffeoyl quinic acid derivatives from the PWE were isolated.
Journal ArticleDOI

Antiproliferative activity of the netherlands propolis and its active principles in cancer cell lines

TL;DR: The MeOH extract of the Netherlands propolis showed promising antiproliferative activity toward highly liver-metastatic murine colon 26-L5 carcinoma and was isolated to isolate four flavonoids, seven cinnamic acid derivatives and two new glycerol derivatives, whose structures were elucidated on the basis of spectral analysis.
