Journal ArticleDOI
Effects of the M3 receptor selective muscarinic antagonist darifenacin on bladder afferent activity of the rat pelvic nerve.
TL;DR: It is shown that darifenacin reduces bladder afferent activity in both Adelta and C fibers, and the decrease in afferent spikes in C fibers may be more pronounced than that in Adelta fibers.
Journal ArticleDOI
Transplantation of preserved human amniotic membrane for bladder augmentation in rats.
Kazuyoshi Iijima,Yasuhiko Igawa,Tetsuya Imamura,Tetsuzi Moriizumi,Toshio Nikaido,Ikuo Konishi,Osamu Nishizawa +6 more
TL;DR: Human amniotic membrane can be used as a scaffold for bladder augmentation and is comparable in this respect with SIS, which may represent a new therapeutic alternative for urological reconstructions.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effects of intravesical instillation of ATP on rat bladder primary afferent activity and its relationship with capsaicin‐sensitivity
Naoki Aizawa,Yasuhiko Igawa,Karl-Erik Andersson,Kazuyoshi Iijima,Osamu Nishizawa,Jean-Jacques Wyndaele +5 more
TL;DR: This work investigated the direct effect of ATP on single fiber activity (SFA) of the primary bladder afferent nerves and its relationship with Cap‐sensitivity.
Journal ArticleDOI
Mechanosensitive primary bladder afferent activity in rats with and without spinal cord transection.
TL;DR: Results indicate that mechanosensitive bladder afferent activity has several patterns and is facilitated after spinal cord injury, especially in concert with small bladder contractions (micromotions), and the functional properties of these individual afferent fibers are not related in an obvious manner to their conduction velocity.
Effects of the Muscarinic Antagonist, Solifenacin, on Bladder Afferent Activity of the Rat Pelvic Nerve
TL;DR: Evaluated the efficacy of solifenacin, a pure antimuscarinic drug, on bladder afferent activity in female Sprague-Dawley rats and found six fibers out of eight C fibers and three out of four Aδ fibers showed a decrease in activity after solifinacin administration, with the remainder showing either inconsistent and small effect or no change.
