Pretreatment of rice straw for ethanol production by a two-step process using dilute sulfuric acid and sulfomethylation reagent

TL;DR: In this article, a two-step rice straw pretreatment process was investigated with the goal of decreasing the ethanol production cost through complete utilization of its components, where RS was first treated with dilute sulfuric acid to remove the hemicellulose and recover the xylose from its hydrolyzate as a feedstock for xylitol production.
Journal ArticleDOI

Coproduction of xylose, lignosulfonate and ethanol from wheat straw

TL;DR: A novel integrated process to coproduce xylose, lignosulfonate and ethanol from wheat straw was investigated and is a potential economically profitable wheat straw biorefinery.
Journal ArticleDOI

Acid-Catalyzed Hydrolysis of Lignocellulosic Biomass in Ionic Liquids for Ethanol Production: Opportunities & Challenges

TL;DR: In this article, the acid-catalyzed hydrolysis of lignocellulosic biomass (LB) in ionic liquids (ILs) has provided a promising technical tool to improve upon the traditional FRS production process.
Journal ArticleDOI

Microcalorimetric Investigation of the Effect of the Ionic Liquid 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium Chloride on the Fermentation of Saccharomyces cerevisiae AY93161 for Lignocellulosic Ethanol Production

TL;DR: In this article, the effects of ionic liquid 1-butyl-3methylimidazolium chloride (BMIMCl) on the ethanol fermentation process of Saccharomyces cerevisiae AY93161 were investigated by using microcalorimetry.
Journal ArticleDOI

Influence of 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium Chloride on the EthanolFermentation Process of Pichia pastoris GS115

TL;DR: In this paper, the influence of 1-butyl-3methylimidazolium chloride (Bmim) on the ethanol fermentation process of Pichia pastoris GS115 was investigated.
