TL;DR: This paper explored conceptual ambiguities of character education within the present Ontario Ministry of Education initiative and identified three shortcomings in character education: a lack of clarity in defining "character", a recognition of the importance of cognitive and social processes in moral development, and a need for effective strategies for character development.
