Abstract: This paper presents smart digital process control (SDPC) system which is applied in remote monitoring of a mission critical process control facility. The work provides the architecture, mechanism and algorithm for maintaining the output of temperature reactor and its specific processes within a desired range. Proteus virtual simulation module is used to develop the process control system. Digital communication of measured temperature thresholds operates with coded signals over a GSM technology communication channel as a means of providing feedback to the anchor of the process control facility. The work introduced control flow algorithm, ASM Chart for temperature control system, temperature process control communication interface (TPCI) and a fully expanded state transition table to enhance performance. The main hardware elements include the embedded AT-processor, Temperature-sensor (LM35), Analog to Digital-converter (ADC0804), Crystal-oscillator (11.0592MHz), auto/manual button and “send command” button. MATLAB driven feed-forward and feedback control responses for the plant disturbance is shown as a definitive control component. The results show that optimality of the system is obtained by combining the feedback and the feed-forward control elements. In the design validation, the system satisfactorily reported its control states in realtime while showing the design proof of concept.
