Inverse scattering in multilayer inverse problem in the presence of damping

TL;DR: The method is based upon Born’s approximation and the assumption that wavespeed and damping are well approximated by the background speed plus a perturbation term to derive the inversion formula.
Journal ArticleDOI

Investigation of the direct and inverse solutions for torsional waves propagating in a cylinder

TL;DR: An integral representation for the problem of recovering the initial profile from the observations of the final profile is found, from which a formula for initial disturbance is derived using Picard's criterion and the singular system of the associated operators.

Testing of the inverse problem with constant-background in the presence of damping in a single layer

TL;DR: In this article, a one-dimensional inverse problem in a medium with constant-background properties is studied in the presence of damping, and the inversion formula is obtained using Born's approximation and high frequency assumption, which is tested for a medium which contains a layer giving rise to a single step-like change in the wavespeed and damping parameters.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors consider a problem of identification of physical properties of the Earth using the damped wave equation, based on the linearized inversion associated with Born's inversion theory.
