Service quality, perceived value, and citizens’ continuous-use intention regarding e-government: Empirical evidence from China

The impact of enterprise risk management on competitive advantage by moderating role of information technology

The purpose of this paper is to investigate the interrelationships among knowledge management (KM), information systems (IS) and employees’ empowerment (EE) on employees’ performance (EP).,Accordingly, a structural model is developed that delineates the interactions among these constructs and explores the mediating effect of EE on the relationship between KM, IS and EP. A questionnaire-based survey was designed to test the aforementioned model based on dataset of 287 employees’ pharmaceutical industries in Jordan. The model and posited hypotheses were tested using structural equation modeling analysis.,The results indicated that KM and IS positively and significantly affect EE, in which the latter impact EP as well. However, neither KM nor IS proved to be positively related to EP. Additionally, EE positively and significantly mediated the relationship between KM and EP, besides the relationship between IS and EP.,This is one of the few studies which investigate the interrelationships among KM, IS and EE on EP, and the first to test the model on companies in the pharmaceutical industries in Jordan.

The role of employees’ empowerment as an intermediary variable between knowledge management and information systems on employees’ performance

E-government adoption

This study was undertaken with the primary aim of identifying, examining and providing an understanding of the factors that could affect citizens’ intention to adopt and use e-government services in Jordan. The preliminary research model used here had been developed from the Technology Acceptance Model by incorporating additional constructs from other models, namely web trust and perceived risk. A self-administered questionnaire was completed by the selected sample. The response rate was 42.5 percent. The data were analyzed using parametric statistics including ANOVA and MANOVA. The finding of this study revealed that there were four main factors that affected citizens’ intention to engage in electronic government services; these were perceived ease of use, perceived usefulness, perceived risk, and trust in electronic channels. A practical implication of the findings and conclusions of this study was that governments were urged to take into account the importance of perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, trust and perceived risk in influencing the intention of citizens to use e-government services. This study was the first to provide important information on factors affecting citizens’ intention to adopt and use electronic government services in Jordan.

The Effect of Trust and Risk Perception on Citizen's Intention to Adopt and Use E-Government Services in Jordan

The recent events in Syria, Iran, Iraq, Tunisia, Egypt, Libya and Pakistan have highlighted the importance of political events to business. Government actions, furthermore, are increasingly pervading all spheres of business activity. Since political events and government actions may affect enterprise performance, there is a need to take them into account in planning and executing strategy. As a response to the increasing impact of political events on business, a new function concerned with the assessment of country risk is gradually emerging in enterprises. Yet, this function is not without its obstacles. This study reports on the obstacles that plague the country risk process in multinational enterprises. In order to achieve this aim, interviews have been conducted with related persons in Jordanian enterprises, who are involved in risk management. It was found that the majority of Jordanian interviewees are unsatisfied with their existing approach for assessing country risk. This research has also offered suggestions for improving practice and offered directions for further research.

Country Risk Management in a Developing Country

Although the MENA is considered a high-risk region, the effects of the political risk on business, in particular financial sector, have not received enough attention in previous studies. This paper, therefore, critically examines international risk affecting the financial sector in Jordan. Such an investigation and the institutions’ responses to international risks may compensate the previous gap. In line with the aim of this paper, the phenomenology philosophy was adopted and the inductive approach was followed. The entire target population of the 64 financial institutions which are listed at Amman Stock Exchange for the year 2013 has been studied. The key risks that have affected the financial institutions operating in Jordan include: the Gulf War, the international financial crisis and the Arab Spring. Not all of the financial institutions, however, are affected equally by these risks. Differences among the financial institutions in risk exposure to these risks arise from the differences of their scope and scale. These differences, therefore, have led to differences in financial institutions’ responses. A number of strategies and policies have been adopted. The paper represents one of the first such investigations in the context of Jordan. The research findings provide a review and understanding of how financial institutions in developing countries respond to particular international risk.
