Journal ArticleDOI
Feasibility of implementing a practice guideline for fall prevention on geriatric wards: A multicentre study.
Koen Milisen,Joke Coussement,Hanne Arnout,Virginie Vanlerberghe,Leen De Paepe,Didier Schoevaerdts,Margareta Lambert,Nele Van Den Noortgate,Kim Delbaere,Kim Delbaere,Steven Boonen,Eddy Dejaeger +11 more
TL;DR: Overall, the guideline was found useful, and for each risk factor, at least one discipline felt responsible and capable, and towards future implementation of the guideline, following steps should be considered.
Proceedings ArticleDOI
Choice stepping reaction time test using exergame technology for fall risk assessment in older people
Andreas Ejupi,Matthew A. Brodie,Yves J. Gschwind,Daniel Schoene,Stephen R. Lord,Kim Delbaere +5 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that a sensor-based, low-cost and easy to administer stepping test, with the potential to be used in clinical practice or regular unsupervised home assessments, was able to identify significant differences between performances by fallers and non-fallers.
Journal ArticleDOI
Good memory as a predictor of falls: fact or artefact
Kim Delbaere,Kim Delbaere,Jacqueline C. T. Close,Jacqueline C. T. Close,Nicole A. Kochan,Perminder S. Sachdev,Stephen R. Lord,Stephen R. Lord +7 more
TL;DR: Investigation of the influence of memory in relation to fall reporting found good memory appears to influence the recording of falls in community-dwelling older people and likely reflects a reporting bias.
Journal ArticleDOI
Intervention Characteristics Associated With a Reduction in Fear of Falling Among Community-Dwelling Older People: A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis of Randomized Controlled Trials.
Marlot Kruisbrink,Marlot Kruisbrink,Kim Delbaere,Kim Delbaere,Gertrudis I. J. M. Kempen,Gertrudis I. J. M. Kempen,Rik Crutzen,Ton Ambergen,Kei Long Cheung,Denise Kendrick,Steve Iliffe,G. A. Rixt Zijlstra,G. A. Rixt Zijlstra +12 more
TL;DR: Holistic exercise, delivery with written materials, the setting and tailoring potentially represent characteristics to take into account when designing and improving interventions for FoF in community-dwelling older people.
Journal ArticleDOI
Evaluating an in-home multicomponent cognitive behavioural programme to manage concerns about falls and associated activity avoidance in frail community-dwelling older people: Design of a randomised control trial [NCT01358032]
Tanja A. C. Dorresteijn,G. A. Rixt Zijlstra,Kim Delbaere,Erik van Rossum,Erik van Rossum,Johan W.S. Vlaeyen,Johan W.S. Vlaeyen,Gertrudis I. J. M. Kempen +7 more
TL;DR: A two-group randomised controlled trial has been developed to evaluate the in-home multicomponent cognitive behavioural programme to manage concerns about falls and associated activity avoidance in frail older people living in the community.
