Journal ArticleDOI

A review on the durability of PVC sewer pipes: research vs. practice

TL;DR: The use of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) has become one of the dominant construction materials for sewer systems over the past decades, as a result of its reputed merits.
Journal ArticleDOI

Detection and quantification of lateral, illicit connections and infiltration in sewers with Infra-Red camera: Conclusions after a wide experimental plan.

TL;DR: IR frame analysis and 2D temperature mapping demonstrate that: i) the detection limit is very low (ratio between lateral and main discharges: 0.025) and ii) the quantification of the lateral discharge is impossible.
Journal ArticleDOI

Extensive testing on PVC sewer pipes towards identifying the factors that affect their operational lifetime

TL;DR: In this article, the authors show that polyvinyl chloride (PVC) sewer pipes have operated for decades in a hostile environment, raising concern among sewer managers over the longevity of their drainage systems.
Journal ArticleDOI

Sonic assessment of physical ageing of plastic pipes

TL;DR: In this article , the potential of vibro-acoustics to detect physical ageing of plastic pipes was explored, where the axisymmetric water-borne wave was used to quantify the storage modulus of a plastic pipe and an uncertainty analysis revealed the parameters that must be more accurately known.
Journal ArticleDOI

Monitoring organic micropollutants in stormwater runoff with the method of fingerprinting.

TL;DR: In this paper , an alternative method, called fingerprinting, was developed and tested in this study, which utilizes wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) influent samples and derives the proportion of stormwater in a sample by comparing the wet weather vs dry weather concentrations of substances-tracers which are present only in wastewater.
