Interaction of twin tunnels and shallow foundation at Zand underpass, Shiraz metro, Iran

TL;DR: In this article, the driving of Shiraz metro twin tunnels under Zand underpass of a major municipal artery built 15 years ago has been analyzed and the earth pressure balance (EPB) operation parameters consisting of face pressure, grout pressure and thrust force, which are effective on the ground movement and tunnels-underpass interaction were investigated.
Journal ArticleDOI

Studying the stress redistribution around the longwall mining panel using passive seismic velocity tomography and geostatistical estimation

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors used passive seismic velocity tomography to demonstrate the state of stress around the longwall mining panel, where the wave velocity is assumed to be the regionalized variable and it is therefore estimated in a denser network, by using geostatistical estimation method.
Journal ArticleDOI

An intelligent approach to predict pillar sizing in designing room and pillar coal mines

TL;DR: In this article, a fuzzy logic model was applied to predict safe pillar sizing in room and pillar coal mines in the US coal mines using depth of cover, mining height, panel width, roof strength rating and loading conditions.
Journal ArticleDOI

Risk assessment based selection of rock TBM for adverse geological conditions using Fuzzy-AHP

TL;DR: In this article, the use of a fuzzy analytical hierarchy process is discussed for decision-making, which can take into account the different criteria pertinent to proper machine selection for anticipated ground conditions such as encountering crushed and fault zones with running gouge, tunnel face and wall instabilities in blocky ground, large quantities of water inflow and converging tunnel sections.
Journal ArticleDOI

Triaxial creep tests and back analysis of time-dependent behavior of Siah Bisheh cavern by 3-Dimensional Distinct Element Method

TL;DR: In this paper, a time-dependent behavior analysis of Siah Bisheh pumped storage powerhouse cavern with complex geometry being under construction on the Chalus River at the north of Iran were investigated.
